I'm sure some of you here get geeked out by Ray's reviews on DC Rainmaker. If you haven't seen it yet, you should check out this profile from Outside a couple months back: https://www.outsideonline.com/2288226/conjure-storm

A good read about the man behind the reviews.

You can't help but suspect that he operates in his own unique way after reading his typical reviews. Maybe he's a bit of thorn in the side of gear makers, but I like that he is objective and thorough. He takes readers into every detail of a product, and makes apt comparisons with other products too. This is so helpful to would be consumers.
He surely serves as a thorough de facto beta tester as well - in my experience, thorough third-party beta testers are invaluable to improving a product.

Very nice article. Sadly, the author died shortly after completing the piece. Ray wrote a nice piece about his experience with Andrew and his sadness upon hearing about the author's death

Damn. I didn't know that and am not sure how I missed it. He was a helluva writer, and it seems that Andrew was a pretty awesome guy. I loved his work, and I'll miss his voice.

Nice read and interesting guy. I didn't know his background. Impressive. I read his blog every now and then. The product reviews are like novels.

Sad to hear about the passing of the author.

It's both tragic and ironic that Andy Tilin also authored a great 2015 Outside article "Bikes vs cars: the deadly war nobody's winning (https://www.outsideonline.com/1930211/bikes-vs-cars-deadly-war-nobodys-winning)".

Just a sad loss for his family and our community.
