Shimano has a tech site (that I can't find right now) that lists all the cross compatibilies.

I'm willing to bet that as long as you match the right hose to the right caliper, you're fine.

the only thing would be the hoses, the newer gen uses a smaller, stiffer hose, still can be used but the levers get mushier, i think
