Where do you buy your non-cycling socks from?

I also by some nice wool/wool blend socks at COSTCO. Like everything they sell it is easy to return almost anything that you aren't happy using. Some wool blends I got there have contrasting fabric in the heel so I wouldn't wear them with dressy clothes but 95% of my waking hours are spent in jeans so they work for me.

I have also got NICE socks from REI but they cost a LOT more. OTOH comfy socks are one of the most important parts of my wardrobe so I'll pay almost anything within reason to get them.

About 8 or 9 years ago I went on a crazy sock spree and bought an entire drawer full of merino wool socks -- mostly Smartwool and Wigwam -- from either Sierra Trading Post, Campmor, or Sahalie/Early Winters...but I honestly can't remember which one of those places it was. I definitely remember they had a print catalog.

Watch REI for their sales. Their house brand light merino socks are as good as anything high-end I've found, good price at full retail and great deal during sales (there's one going on now until May 28, don't know if it includes socks)

Sometimes tjmaxx has them for cheaper. Best socks I’ve ever had, won’t go back to garbage smart wool ever again. Those wear through in a matter of months and their warranty is lacking. Darn tough hasn’t let me down... had some for years with lttile to no sign of wearing out.

Nothing but darn tough for this guy. Tried ice breaker merino and they are garbage compared to darn tough. I have quite a few pairs now..... with the oldest easily being 5+ years and they WILL NOT wear out!! Awesome socks. Best place in Canada to get them is MEC.....

I've used their warranty a few times (mainly because I walk around shoeless a lot) and they ship back brand new socks, so I keep buying more out of loyalty, and I go on the internet and talk about their great socks on forums like this one, so hopefully they're coming out ahead or at least breaking even on my ass.

I few years ago for summer off-the-bike wear I switched to some low-cut Hanes that are about 1" above the ankle. You can really notice the difference in the hot weather. Plus they're cheap and seem to last quite a while.

When it cools off I go back to "regular" length.
