Those might be the nicest looking retrofriction shifters I've ever seen. Do they work like the Simplex, or more like the Campy or Suntour versions?

There was a guy in Jersey who used to finance Lambos. His yearly salary was not much higher than the MSRPs. After his 2nd or 3rd purchase, on the way home from the dealership, he lost the rear end and totaled his Murcielago. He was self-insured.

They were made by Simplex, thus they work like Simplex.

Even Shimano and Suntour offered bent-tip levers, it was a great idea imo.

Those are quite a desirable piece of kit these days. Between those and Campy's "Doppler" retrofriction levers with the lever offset from the pivot, thoughtful design.

Can't wait to see those installed!

Cool. Love my Simplex shifters.

There's a NOS set of the OP shifters on ebay for $120.

Hope you're not hooked on those sweet little spoons. Simply gorgeous.

hard to say if they do work like simplex. the gipiemme retrofriction mech is sealed unlike simplex which is serviceable. in this way the gipiemme is more akin campag retrofriction which were similarly sealed, but i cant speak to how the internals may be similar.

Great find....There was a short period of time in the late1980's when Mavic owned Simplex. I'm not sure of the exact business arrangement but Simplex was either in or headed toward bankruptcy. This arrangement lasted for a couple of years and Simplex was re-organized and then went bankrupt for good after a couple more years. These levers were made during the Mavic ownership.
