in response to weisan's thread "Two incoming" https://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=222052

I present to you one incoming. A different approach than weisan in the quest of N+1. Certainly not the most economical way of doing it but I will be getting a beautiful bike built and spec'ed by an amazingly talented builder. Support your builders....

Which color did you land on? Still pink?

That looks like my Merlin Agilis designed by Tom Kellogg. Every bike was built by a "builder" once.

What is 88 divided by 4?

Multiplied that by a magic number that's on my thread.

I'd like to have one incoming from the same place. I find myself reading this post (http://www.44bikes.com/lets-talk-about-plus/)over and over again ...

Kris is first class in every way.

Enjoy the entire process.

You are not going to believe this but I have less money to blow and less time to ride as a stay at home Dad. However, I would not trade it for the world.

Makes sense. I’m sure the kiddos like it this way too.

Nice 88*.25*Weisan-coefficient. Keep the updates coming.

Taking it on Mr Frog's Wild Ride? That would be a solid proving ground and christening. Assuming you don't knock teeth out...

I think you should consider Chelada graphics for the paint scheme. And remember that 8oz cans might be more secure in a full wrap carbon bottle cage (maybe a third under the down tube for epic-ness- just make sure it doesn't interfere with your studded snow tires)

Edit: Ah yes, here it 'tis... This one made my wife blow milk through her nose laughing...

LOL, I will not be drinking Bud Chelada or visiting Ellis, KS or drinking Bud Chelada in Ellis, KS anytime soon. However, the color was inspired by a menu for a noodle house menu.... so I guess there is a food theme.

I think that is the magic of Kris Henry's work. He makes a super clean and elegant bike but there is so much technology in it. What I find amazing is that there is no internal routing of cables. Coupled that with the technology (big fork, dopper post, switches and stuff) it still appears super clean. Go figure he is a RISD grad.

Cannot wait to start shredding on it.

Yeah, its a 30T chainring with an 11x46T cassette. I may replace it the ring with a 32T as I do ride on the pavement from my home to the trails.

Thanks. I gave Kris my measurements, told him what I want to do with the bike, my budget and a RAL code and he did the rest. I had very little input into what I was getting-- which I consider a good thing. He has tested all the equipment spec'ed on this bike and knows what works and does not. I put a lot of trust in him and the aesthetics look great. I am sure the ride will too as I never heard a complaint from a 44 owner.

Actually, that is what I am thinking. I would like to try an oval ring out. Are you riding with an oval ring? Pros/Cons? Brand?

I've been running a Wolftooth oval 32 on my hardtail in your backyard. Seems that for cranking up hills and powering (relative term, in my case) through technical stuff it works. I notice when I put the bike on a trainer and try for high RPM/spin that it makes my pedalstroke choppy...so maybe not the best choice for smooth XC-type riding like Sea Otter...?

I’m running 34 oval from absolute black currently and am loving it. I’ve got 10-42 in back so I’m geared perfectly for terrain around here but am swapping to 30 oval from Wolftooth for TahoeTrail and Leadville.

I’m an idiot and took it on my regular fast “road” group ride this weekend for some intensity and I couldn’t feel any difference or “pulsing” as they say, as the chainring was under constant load....seated OR standing. Slow, flat recovery rides you might be able to feel a tiny difference but again.....very minimal.

Where I think it really shines is on climbs. I feel like it helps during dead part of pedal stroke and I have lot less slipping and much more constant power.

They also say it’s “easier” on the knees but I would give it a break in period and not go balls wall. I went from putting crap ton of miles on road bike and tried to go do an 80 mile climbing ride on MTB and next day my knees were little pissed. So just ease into it like anything else.
