Headed out for a ride this morning and, as soon as I shifted to the big ring, the cable snapped. Well, was not even a block away so I turned around and grabbed my backup bike for the ride. When back home, I found I had a spare cable so went to work. I did not see the cable head so I snaked the old cable through, after snipping off the frayed end, and it went up through the shifter body and out the housing end. So, in with the new cable, tightened things down and found the clicks now did not pull any cable. Hmmm, looked into the shifter body but could not see anything.

As Campy shops are scarce as hen's teeth I remembered a new shop opened not long ago on Belair Rd in Baltimore. Sort of a part time shop run by a local paramedic. Called and found him there. Quick drive down and he checked out my bike. He thought maybe the shifter died but, it turned out the cable head found a nice hiding place in the mechanism causing all my problems.

He removed the old part, installed a new cable and I was back in business in about 10 minutes. Only charged me $10!!! I picked up some other parts while there.

So, if any Campagnolo users live around Baltimore, MD, check him out!

+100 for Jason. Great shop, great guy, and the best Campy guy around, IMO. He 'gets it'....

Yup, being a local Campag pro always works. If any 'small market' comes to one place, it's a 'big market' to them..Good for him...

nice. this is the sustainable LBS business model i think. small shop, small overhead, excellent service.

i also like to read positive vibes and reviews here.

also - good plug for having at least an n+1 backup bike!

Agree..works for car/motorcycle repair, no reason to think it wouldn't for bikes...almost everybody wants to find 'their mechanic'...
