Started on a ride this morning, flatted after 4 miles. Sat on the side of the road to replace the tube and the new tube wouldn't take air. My Lezyne frame pump unscrewed the valve core. It has happened before and I blamed the tube. Now I'm not so sure, anyone else have this happen to them? Is there a fix or is it time for a new pump?

i had a memorable experience with a lezyne mini pump removing a valve core on a very cold and rainy day. If it were my pump it would been thrown far into the woods with my barely functional wet and frozen hands.

Curious if it was a Continental tube? I had a frustrating Continental valve core + Lezyne screw-on Presta head experience, but I was thankfully at home. Other tubes have been fine fwiw.

Always carry TWO tubes. It gives you a second chance to work around the Lezyne's problem.

Even if the Lezyne unscrews the second valve core, you can stuff both tubes in the tire and ride home with SOMETHING inside the tire creating some volume and cushion. Yeah; you may destroy the tire, but it's either that or the Walk of Shame.

I can relate, we stopped to help a cyclist yesterday change a flat. While I’m getting the tire off, my friend is busy unscrewing the valve core from the front tire with a Lezyne pump. Same thing when I handed the rear wheel to him. Fortunately we were able to get them back in, so we didn’t leave the person with three flats. That said, I use two Lezyne floor pumps at home with the new-style chuck with no issues.

I had one unscrew, I do believe it was a continental but it may not have been. What it taught me is to check the new tube's valve before putting it in the spare container. Some have turned up to a full rotation. Almost all turn some amount. I have three Lezyne frame and one Lezyne floor pumps all with the screw head. I like them.

Lezyne pumps suck. Only cycling product(s) I just threw away.

As jischr said - check the valve when you open the tube box. I keep the cheap little Continental tool handy and always check tightness before using.

Lezyne floor pump unscrews my valve cores on occasion. PITA. Have to be very careful when screwing the chuck on...and tightening the valve core with the little tool when tube is installed.

Lezyne pumps suck, but a Park valve tool is invaluable, and should be part of all home wrenches kit. Give the valve a hard squeeze and it is VERY hard to pull out.

Take a dip in the tub and call the day a triathlon!

It's happened to me. I ended up buying the slip on version of the chuck. Lezyne should've included the slipon version from the start.

mini leatherman with pliers has been part of my mini kit for years for just such a reason. a little tweak to tighten the valve core fixes all.

You guys don't carry one of those ubiquitous black plastic valve tools in your kit? As an avowed tubular user I have to in order to squirt some sealant in a punctured tire but they actually weigh so little I put them in all my tool bags. Usually the problem with them is they're so small you have to remove everything in your bag to find them.

That's an option. Another one is using the bleed valve on the pump hose as intended. I'm sure there's a video out there that illustrates how.
