For some reason I've developed a want for this bike as a general purpose runabout and urban cruiser, maybe a little dirt road. http://genuinebicycleproducts.com/redmenace.html

Wondering if it makes any sense at $600.
I want a coaster brake bike but something that's a step up from a beach cruiser.
I'm not sure if the frame being compatible with old klunker parts matters much when buying a complete bike.
Love the look.

Doesnt seem unreasonable to me for what you get. If you really like the bike, get one!

No offense, but how's that a step up from a beach cruiser, other than chrome maybe?.

26" bmx bikes are all over the place, some have coaster tabs otherwise a p clamp works https://www.planetbmx.com/shop/complete-bikes/26-bmx.html

For coaster brake versions, a garage sale Schwinn Typhoon (mine has kickback 2 speed) has a bit of panache, can get a 60s or 70s version cheap, add or subtract the fenders as needed...

The idea of buying a new bike with a 1 piece cranks is pretty unappealing. I hate that my 5 year old's bike (and not a cheap one) has one and is so heavy.

I haven't looked, but I've got to think there are nicer options for the money for that kind of bike.

Look into the reissue Haro and SE Racing bikes with bigger wheels.

Build a proper klunker, it'll be a really fun project for well under $600.

I have a '55 Schwinn klunker that I really enjoy, and I'm into it for under $200. It just takes a little deal hunting and patience.

Go for it! Atomic Paul rules and everyone I know with a Red Menace or Genuine Article all love theirs. Paul is the real deal. 818, baby!

do not pay more than $20 for a bike like this
you can find a hot/ stolen one on your local Craig’s Fist:fight:

youd rather advocate buying stolen merchandise than supporting someone making something in america? paceline is so weird.

You could try and find a HUTCH but that's nearly impossible and way beyond $600 if found.

https://youtu.be/eABS9mMwyY0Thanks guys, lots of good info to consider. I'm not that far from Atomic so I'll run by soon and have a look at it in person.
That youtube commercial is pretty compelling, and I might be able to get dealer financing as well. :)

Also keep in mind that the frame/fork on the Red Menace are sourced offshore, probably China, thus the name. The fully US made model is probably double the price.
