Last year I tried a Specialized Power and it was very, very close to being the perfect saddle, but I need slightly more padding. Any recommendations for a "short" saddle that meets the following:
Well padded
Large cut-out
Affordable (i.e., don't need carbon rails)
I've seen options from Specialized, Prologo, Pro and San Marco.
Any recommendations?

Which Spec Power model did you try? The lower end models have more padding than the Pro or S-Works versions.

Which Specialized Power did you try? The Comp, Expert, Pro or S-works? I ask because they have different padding thicknesses. The Pro for example has less padding than the Expert. I know because my wife has both.
I personally use the Pro Stealth Saddle (made by Shimano) It's cheaper, lighter and more comfortable for me in aggressive positions but it has LESS padding than the Spec. Power Expert. It's more comparable with the higher end Power saddles.
What's your weight and build? The right fit should make padding less critical. I have the Power Pro 155 because it was the only version of the Power Pro available at the time, but I'm considering shifting to the narrower version of the same model. I for one have no problem riding with the 1-2 mm of padding that the Power Pro offers.

I use the power elaston for gravel riding and the sworks power for road. The elaston feels like it has roughly 5x the padding of the sworks and roughly 2x the padding of the expert, so that might be the option that suits you best.

I'm 6ft, 175lbs and I tried a Power Expert (143mm). I may try the Elaston - it seems to get great reviews, though the price is hard to swallow.
