Stack height of Campagnolo 1 1/8' headset and possible alternatives.

Recently I've noticed a "scraping" type sound as I turn the steerer on my bike. I pulled the fork out this morning and it looks like the bottom cup of my Campagnolo Record 1 1/8" headset has started to brinell. Clearly it's time for a replacement but the Campy one isn't easy to find. I'm assuming that whatever one I use will need to have the same stack height but my Google skills didn't turn up the answers, so does any one know:

1. the stack height of the Campy set (I did a rough measurement and it seems
to be about 24mm or so, and
2. any other headsets that I could use as a substitute.

Stack height =24.5mm

New one here on eBay for reasonable money. Best headset besides dura ace !

Unless I'm missing something from your post, the Campagnolo 1 1/8" threadless headset is commonly available.


If you are looking for alternatives, in terms of stack height the tune "Bobo" (made by Acros) is the closest:

24.5mm: 1 1/8" Campagnolo "Threadless": total stack height = 24.5mm (upper = 12.3mm; lower = 12.2mm).

24.6mm: 1 1/8" tune (Acros) "Bobo" total stack height = 24.6mm (upper = 12.4mm; lower = 12.2mm).

28.0mm: 1 1/8" Cane Creek "110 EC" total stack height = 28.0mm (upper = 16.0mm; lower = 12.0mm).

31.4mm: 1 1/8" Chris King "NoThreadSet" total stack height = 31.4mm (upper = 17.7mm; lower = 13.7mm).

Have the Cane Creek. No issues at all. I have however killed a Record headset in the same miles.... ymmv
