I'm trying to find a sweet frame pump to go on my new-to-me Mr. Pink and there don't seem to be many options out there. Imperio for a million bucks, or Zefal HPX for almost nothing. I can find some vintage Silca on eBay as well. What's the consensus here?

Photo from today's ride (still dialing it in, want to replace bars - I know they're rotated funny, add pump)

don't get the impero. Ok, it looks nice, nicer than any other frame pump out there but.... its way too expensive and in all honesty, I prefer my topeak masterblaster (I like the little flip handle that locks to the valve).

So its $20 vs $180, one looks awesome, the other one works better. I have both

Topeak Road Master Blaster. Works extremely well, can get to higher pressures pretty easy, very durable. I’ve had one for years. I’m the guy that fixes others flats on the road.

The new Silca is theft-bait. I had one stolen right in a bike shop by someone who took it and walked out the door. That said, I do actually love the pump and the shop graciously replaced it no charge. It's appropriate, perhaps, on a custom Sachs or Firefly but just looks out of place on an All City. No shade intended but its cost is out of place. I have an HPx as well and like the feel and speed of the Silca a bit better. But would I use it to fend off a charging dog on a rural north Texas road? Probably not.

I'd get the HPx. Or, I'd get a CO2 inflator (and Silca does make a very nice one) and carry it with a couple of the larger 25 gram cartridges in your jersey pocket or a saddle bag. The better solution all around. If you've never tried one, do so. You won't go back. You can also get the Silca Mini to go in your pocket with the CO2 inflator so if you have more flats than you have CO2 cartridges, you at least have a way to limp home. The Silca Mini goes in your jersey pocket and doesn't even stick out; it takes a lot of pumps but gets the job done, which on a third flat or so is all you can ask for. Then go home and kneel at the altar of the flats god, burn a sacrificial offering to him, and hope for better rides.

Those are pretty and with the original two-pronged Campy head worked decently. But they also cracked just in normal use, collected water in the metal sleeve at the bottom, and weren't the most fun to pump with. On a classic bike I'd absolutely use one and depend on it but I think there are newer pumps that do actually do it better.

Nice collection, Weisan. Do you have the correct two-prong heads for all of them? And by the way, fix that one tip rubber that's worn through. Major demerits even to post it. That's like going on a date with a damaged condom.

Topeak and Blackburn have discontinued their frame pumps.

Viva La Zefal!

Dear Silca, please make longer version of the Tacttico,
a decent mini pump. You can call it the Gravelicious.

You can get frame mounted Lezene pumps. Very nice (function and form) if you are not tied to the idea of a full sized frame pump.

The silca is nice. But unecessary.
