Anyone knows whether the Road Runner Jammer bag plays well with externally routed shifters like the DA7800 or 7700?

It should here's my current setup Ultegra 9sp, 44cm handlebars. Can take a close up if you like.

You could probably set up slightly longer cables too just to help. NickR, do you think that would be necessary?

while we're on it -- how much does the jammer throw off the feel/handling of the ride? (assuming both hands on the bar with a change of work clothes and lunch in it)

I guess it would depend on your bars how far out the shifters are. But to be clear the bag doesn’t expand to much out or wide, most of its volume comes from expanding bottom to top.

This is my first week with it, but haven’t notice any significant change (FYI it’s been windy on my commute home all week). I carry my lunch and breakfast (I pack light) cycling shorts and a few other small items ( I leave my shoes at work). I’m coming from Using a motorcycle backpack so just happy to take the weight of my back.

You sure it's large enough? I always suggest a bike with a rack if possible. One of the reasons against a bag like the Jammer as the only bag is that it does not attach quickly unlike a pannier that comes off and goes on in a snap.

Just something to think about.

I'll betchya Jason rides 42cm wide bars so it looks like that would work just fine then.

My guess the appeal is you can use your road bike instead of a dedicated commuter that has the mounting for panniers.

yeah, i mean it's existence only just came to my attention yesterday (with the 420 sale thread) but it looks like it could squeeze my work clothes (i work in shorts/jeans/t-shirts and leave a pair of kicks at the office), and i could scrap the backpack during the summer. Gotta measure to see if I've got room for it, though, as I'm one of those short folks..

Very similar needs. I ride to the train in my work cloths shorts/pants. The way back I ride all the way home in my work cloths but have cycling short under for saddle comfort.

In that case it may indeed work. The larger of those is designed to carry like 5 pounds of weed so should be fine!

dammit, just realized I didn't measure *any* of my bikes last night.. but something's telling me it'll be a no go, unfortunately.
