Not sure what the real world applications of this are.. maybe you won't be able to ride a bicycle on the moon or mars or something if we ever get there.

There are some guys I ride with that could use this bike to hold a straight line!

The real world application is that 5 students finished their senior project.

Well, there aren't really any applications of a zero gravity bike, but it does demonstrate one of the basic principles of bicycle dynamics in normal gravity that may not be immediately obvious: That the actual force that causes a bike to turn is gravity. We literally use gravity to make us "fall" into the direction of the turn, and we keep "falling" into the turn until the turn is done. Knowing this helps us to understand the role of leaning a bike in a turn, and how changes in lean can initiate or terminate a turn.

That looks like Barton Hall in the video. Took many final exams in there.

I want to see the test repeated down Buffalo Street! 😁

Cool

That and "reverse steering" bike would make quite a fleet, and a lot of fun at cyclist parties...

that's really fascinating. I feel like you could learn to ride that thing though.

My sister lives in Ithaca. My ambition is to ride my bike up Buffalo Street!
