Have anyone tried this setup? And if, how wide tires could be used? Thinking something about 47mm could be possible?

Bumping this up because I'm interested too. Not sure if there would be clearance for 47mm 650b on my Routt either. Currently running 35 schwalbe g-one allroad on nox carbon wheels with adequate clearance.

Call or email Moots, they'll know.

Definitely call Moots and talk to someone. They are helpful.
The Routt 45 will clear a 650x50ish (https://www.instagram.com/p/BIY9h2HB58H/). The regular Routt has less clearance, but I haven't seen it with my own eyes...doubtful on the 650bx47

Moots told me that the 2018 Routt RSL will clear a 650bx42 nicely ...I doubt it would take a 650bx47.

My Routt45 takes a 650b with WTB Byways (47mm), and can run larger. I would suggest that the 2.7cm chainstay difference between the Routt (42.3cm) and the Routt45 (45cm) is going to be your limiting factor for the (comparatively) high-volume tires that 650b is best with, unless you're simply looking to run a smaller wheel. Given the clearance my setup has, I'd agree that the 42mm tire is probably the max with 650b for you.

By the way, you SHOULD try it. The 650b is amazing on this bike.

Thanks, would be nice to know what Moots says about this, but yes 42mm sounds more plausible with the shorter chainstay

I asked Moots:

This frame should fit a 40-42mm width tire. However we cannot test every tire and rim combination to be sure.

My frame is from 2015, I don't know if there is a bit more clearance on the current model?
