a great performance, and a touching show of emotion at the finish.

Watched it on VS (formerly OLN) and the face on Wegman as Bettini dropped him was sheer agony. That little guy is a hell of a tough athlete. Glad he won after the recent death of his bro....

That was a great decent for Bettini- he was layin it all out. Liked the shots of them going thru those narrow alley way/ streets.

yeah, looked as if he may have actually touched the road barrier at some point. Light guy like him putting time on bigger men on a descent...huge ones!

time = two world champs in a row = sweet.
not sweet = losing the team/rider sponsorship

steve, do you know which model the cricket was riding? it looked great in white.

it would be a vxrs ulteam.
currently available...extended seat tube model which makes the bike stiffer and lighter.
they are making a bettini wc model like the boonen also. will sell in italy for some reason.

will be tough for specialized to duplicate the results next season, thats for sure

Just watched this last night. Bettini was on fire and didn't "appear" to be working hard going up the hills while he dropped his competition. Wegman was one hurting puppy on that last climb...ouch.

Did you see Bettini the final (or penultimate) decent when he almost layed on top of the barrier and then almost hit the wall on the other side coming out of the corner? That was close and I can't believe he managed to stay off that barrier.

The finish was bitter sweet...seeing the great ride by Bettini...but feeling the pain from the loss of his brother.

Here's a gem from Phil Liggett heard during the broadcast "Sometimes black is a lighter shade of gray"
