The real shame here is using a 17 degree stem with a sloping TT.

Shameful even if this was a spare parts build. I have a hard time mixing Ultegra and Dura Ace.

I've sheepishly allowed DuraAce pedals on my otherwise Campagnolo Hampsten. I'm glad I don't see them when I ride.

I run XTR pedals and skewers on my otherwise Campy 'cross bike.
Because Campy has quit trying in those areas.

if the system works, I am fine with it. Their bike, not mine.

I use shimano cassettes, kmc chains and shimano pedals.... campy cassettes are overpriced, I like quicklinks and shimano pedals are the best.

Me too. Except for the chains. I use a campy chain with a quick link.

Campagnolo makes amazing wheels that roll nicely on any bike if you've got the right freehub body.

Shimano makes the best pedals on the road.

Specific to the bike in question, that Ultegra crank is excellent and Record 11s levers feel nice.

It's amazing that people get hung up on this stuff.

I keep some Chorus square taper cranks lying around with an English and Italian BB to go with it. A 10 speed 105 drivetrain that I have had forever, old wheels and whatever else will make enough parts to throw on a frame and try it out before putting on some "real" parts.

I won't ride these wheels very much since twice a year a front spoke will break- guaranteed. Eventually they will all be new. Ha... And Shimano SPD-SL FTW.

I am guilty of this.

The only Campy parts on my drop bar bikes are the shifters. BTW it was a glorious day yesterday. http://i68.tinypic.com/29wtlrn.jpg

Campy 10V shifters, with an old XTR RD and an 8V shimano cassette... my crime against cycling aesthetics. Works brilliantly.

So shouldn't let you guys know that this stuff exists? (http://www.jtekengineering.com/shiftmate/shiftmate-compatibility-charts-choices/) Mixing stuff is great.

Something on here to let almost anything work together.

the only thing in the middle of an aesthetics/functionality venn diagram is having everything match.

I have a Pegoretti with Campy, Shimano, Sram, Thomson, Deda, King and Selle Italia ... thing is like a United Colors of Benetton ad

... and I'm building another Peg with full Shimano right now

It's amazing that people get hung up on this stuff.agreed. my Campy-equipped bike has Shimano cassette, KMC chain, Sram rings and a Quarq crankset. I toyed with the idea of going to a matching (ish) power meter but the only options either suck (Stages) or are too damn much money (SRM). it works fine. and looks a helluva lot better than that new Campy 12 speed crank at least!

Fit and builds in progress on both, so I apologize for the crappy pix and wonky angles on things haha.

Shimano pedals on all the road bikes including two with Campy groups. To make up for that, I use Times on the MTB/Dirt bikes even with Shimano cranks.

Currently building a bike with Campy Ergos, SRAM clutch rear derailleur and Shimano front derailleur, cassette, wheels and pedals because that's what will work the best.

Who'da thunk?

My beater which intentionally looks rough has parts from my spare bin. Campy, Mavic, and Sram are all represented. Gets me to work, yay.

Put me in the camp of running Shimano with Campy wheels. Best of both worlds.

But hey, that bike is already mixing Argon with Krypton (and Carbon), so mixing a bit more is no big deal. :)

Nope. This one was recently rescued from a shop. It was (until I got it haha) a NOS, 2011 Duende in ABVD paint. I actually tried to buy this very frame and fork for more than two years, close to three, and as recently as Feb. of this year was told it was long gone. Imagine my surprise when a friend texted me that he just picked it up, from the same shop that is now going out of business

The Conn Rust one was picked up on the DL on this here site. I had been patiently and reasonably quietly searching for one for 3-4 years when I saw it, commented and asked a few questions. Months later, owner PMd and asked if I was interested. Um, yes, yes I was. My first, for a very reasonable price but built with a ton of random 10-speed parts. Worth. Every. Penny.
