I recently purchased a Moots routt that came with a DA 9000 rd and DA cassette with a 28 large cog. I'd like to use an Ultegra 11-32 for a wider range and have a 9100 rd that I'd like to use with it.
I know the 9100 rd will run a 30t big ring in the rear. It looks like it should work, but has anyone out there tried it?

I’m using an Ultegra 11-32 on my Dura Ace 9000 rd. Works fine.

Nope. Have a compact crankset up front. Frame has longish chainstays. I doubt either of those matter as much as a derailleur hanger that is long enough for the larger cassette cogs. Too short and the b-tension screw cannot be adjusted in enough. Some have reversed the b-screw for some more range (I didn’t have to).
Others have used a Wolftooth Roadlink (or similar) to increase the derailleur hanger length.
Don’t forget to check chain length. I added a couple going from 28 to 32. Checked function in big cog/big ring to be sure my rd wasn’t over extended; but wouldn’t suggest that combo to ride in because of the extreme chain line. All was good!

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkThanks for the info. I am running a 48t wolftooth no drop up front and currently have a 9000 on it. I have a new 9100 rd, but if the 9000 isn't an issue with the 11-32 then I don't really feel the need to swap it out.
I'll try using the 9000 rd and swapping the cassettes first. If I don't like it I can always swap derailleurs.

Pretty much but it's a little bike/hanger dependent too.. My Parlee Z5i could only run a 30t while my wifes Madone can do 32t.

I am able to run the 11-34 with a 50/34 (Di2 9070).
It's definitely worth expermenting with what you have before trying new kit.

Thanks guys. I was starting to build up the Z5 I picked up this winter and realized the 9100 rear derailleur had a longer cage than the 9000 on my Moots.
I didn't realize the 9000 might work with the 11-32. I'll give it a try tomorrow and get everything sorted.

Swapped to the 11-28 for the 11-32 today. It worked perfect and I appreciate the advice!
