I have some Ritchey parts on my Gunnar and am looking for something alloy for my new Kelly Knobby X.
I am trying to build a sub 20lb bike and every gram counts. I'd like to go matchy matchy.

1 1/8 steerer, 31.8mm clamp
27.2 seatpost with some set back.

For the stem it’s hard to beat Fairwheel’s Kalloy plain black stem. Simple, light, reliable.

i think all of the Deda stuff is excellent.

also very impressed with everything i've used from Fizik. their alloy stem is really good IMO.

The Kalloy stem is a great option on a budget. Fairwheel bikes sells a logo free version for $35; 110 g for 110mm.

https://fairwheelbikes.com/fair-wheel-kalloy-uno-stealth-stem/

You can then get a Thomson Masterpiece seatpost if you don't mind the looks; 158 g claimed weight.

I used to be a bit fan of Thomson but something about that bend no longer does it for me
I know right? Aesthetics. Pft

Nothing any lighter than Ritchey WCS in alloy. it's the lighter 7000 series aluminum, not the heavier 6000 series of the Ritchey Pro and most competing products. Cannondale C1 is 7000 series, C2 and above is 6000. So check the type aluminum of the parts you look at.

Can you link me to a stem/seatpost in this ? I guess this is 7050 alloy https://us.ritcheylogic.com/us_en/wcs-1-bolt-seatpost

you should be able to find a ton of 27.2 seatposts that are superlight.

Just check the fairwheel site.

Zipp sl service course is light and stiff. I like the look as well.

Some other stem and seat post manufactures also use the super light alloys......you just have to check. BTW.....I have some Ritchey WCS bars in 7050 alloy.....and they are identical to some Oval Concepts bars I have...right down to the machine marks on the ends and bends. So imagine some manufacturer in Taiwan is making all of them for most of the bar, stem, and seat post sellers.

And some say the 7050 parts flex some. Which I've never noticed. BTW....I like the 2 bolt clamps better than 1 bolt, and I'm not heavy.

Syntace Liteforce or Force 109 stem and P6 7075 seatpost are very nice as well, well-designed and -engineered.

What about ControlTech?
Price is right on these bars..

Not as light as the ritchey but not bad? I'd probably cut it down some anyways

"Matchy matchy" is a poor choice as it kinda looks like you based your buying decision on a logo.

Kalloy Uno is a decent, lightweight choice. Acetone to remove the logos.

Deda Superzero seatpost is about 190g (less if you fitted Ti bolts) and the logos can be removed with a blade. The Superleggero is even lighter, but has less setback.

Aesthetically I would go Syntace on the Kelly

I have this cockpit on my IF Crown J and matchy matchy is dialed

I realized I have a Specialized S-works stem that should work, so just need a seatpost. The Deda superleggero looks nice but I am not keen on spendinng over $100 on that

The Zipp service course sl looks nice, heavier than the Deda of course..

If anyone is curious, this is what I am thinking for my build right now

Tektro RL520 levers
Rivendell SILVER bar end shifters (I also have Kelly TakeOffs, so that's a possibility too)
Paul Motolite
Compass RH 50/34 cranks
Hunt Race Aero wheelset, not sure on tires yet.
S-works stem 90mm
Salsa Cowbell3 (not as light as I want, over 300 but nice flare) or Specialized Hover Bars (rather light weight, actually, 273g if memory serves (42cm)), unless I get some Ritchey WCS bars..
Shimano 5800 FD
Shimano 5800 RD
9 speed SRAM cassette

Weird, I know.

You need a good seat post clamp on a cross bike first and foremost.

Sounds like a mess TBH.....

SRAM mechs are lighter so I'd use those
Hylix carbon bars are usually cheap on ebay and are not much over 200g.
I'd add more weight to the wheels in the form of spokes and get something stiffer and stronger.
Not sure what those cranks are, but can't imagine they're light. SRAM red secondhand would be a good choice.

The Syntace is an inline seatpost.

The Syntace P6 7075 (http://www.syntaceusa.com/index.cfm?pid=3&pk=1615#) I suggested on page 1 is definitely not inline.

Fantastic post in all respects.

How are you going to shift an 11s derailleur on a 9s cassette?

Yeah, you might run into some issues with a 9-speed chain rubbing constantly on a 11-speed front derailleur. I tried 5800 derailleurs in the past and ended up swapping to an earlier 10-speed generation.

Definitely inline, I've owned one in the past. Why do you say it isn't "inline"?

It looks stupid with the saddle in a "setback" position

Presumably his bar end shifters are friction shifters?

Correct, friction, but you may be right about the rubbing.

I owned one too. Very well made post.

When I think "inline" I think zero setback. The P6 provides for some setback. People may differ on the aesthetics of that setback, as they differ on the aesthetics of Thomson setback posts, but I don't see the P6 as a zero setback post.

In line with the Control Tech items, I am going to see if the Viento bars will work. 7075 version and scandium and keep the one that's lighter

I've messed around with some lightweight seatposts (Enve, Easton, etc), but I keep coming back to the Fizik Cyrano (https://www.fizik.com/us_en/men/components/seatposts/cyrano-seatpost-00.html) because it just works the best. Smart design.
It doesn't weigh too much either.
