My Cuz RA got me thinking with her post about a local artist from her area that she likes. What sort of regional styles or artists do you like or even collect?

I've always been fascinated with Pacific North West Indian art. I grew up seeing a wide variety of designs from the Haida, Tlingit, Tsimshian, Bella Coola, Makah, Salish, and Nootka.

Art Sampling:
PNW Indian Art (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.douglasreynoldsgallery.com/Images/Carvings/gray_panel.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.douglasreynoldsgallery.com/Images/Carvings/gray_panel.htm&h=502&w=500&sz=259&hl=en&start=4&tbnid=kC4ZeUkTJSDmZM:&tbnh=130&tbnw=129&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dphil%2Bkilla%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%2 6lr%3D%26sa%3DG)

The other artist whose work has a very PNW feel is Elton Bennet.

I have a number of signed prints that, along with PNW Indian art, always give me that "homey" feeling of running through the woods and playing along the shores of Puget Sound as a child.

The Hudson River School of Art fascinated me from the first time I saw an exhibit at the NY Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1987 . Huge displays of color depicting the Hudson River views were my favorite. When I was at the 2004 Serrota open house we did the Sunday ride up to and through the Saratoga Battlefield. When I went riding by myself on Monday, I went the same route except this time I stopped and enjoyed the view from up above the Hudson River. I could see where artists had gotten their inspiration.
