Just got this today.

Seriously heavy but will allow me to take the bike to the nearby grocer and not the car.

I keep one of these at my office for lunch runs and the occasional commute, tons of fun and the Hayes brakes are great. enjoy.

Good on you for using your bike to get groceries. What bag setup are you using?

It came with a set of Bontrager panniers.

Not sure about anything else.

I believe it to be a 2015 Trek District.

Looks good and functional. Please report back after some miles- i'm looking for something like this and there seems to be a lot to choose from nowadays.

very cool.

as long as there is not major elevation change, a super heavy bike is not a big deal for utility purposes if it has the right gearing.

i rode a super heavy, super cheap huffy mtb with a trailer to take my son to school a bunch last year, and it was no big deal. i absolutely love the idea of doing routine errands on a human powered machine. good for you, it's a nice bike and will work well for a utility bike.

with regard to my experience - if you get more serious about shopping with the bike, and the store is not too far, do consider a utility trailer for hauling stuff home. it's not a bad option!

The market that I want to shop at is across the Rio Grande and the path to it is flat.

I'll be crossing the river a few times a week and I'll pretty happy about that.

How many standard-sized grocery bags can be carried at once?

I love that frame color.

Re: the frameset weight, what is it? I guess similar to one of those purpose-built ANT bikes? Or maybe those were even heavier; weight was definitely not a primary concern.

I have a pair of Performance Bike "grocery panniers" and one similar JAND pannierEach one holds a typical brown bag from a market and folds nearly flat against a rack as shown above. I used them with a Blackburn rack on my MB-3. I sold that bike to ELHARDEEN and will be happy to sell all or part of this collection to a FORUMITE.

Pretty cool bike! I don’t think I could justify another bike to the wife though.

No doubt! I saw this in the catalog the other day and want it even though I have a bike for that purpose already. It's a great deal and looks like a ton of fun. However, not nearly as pretty as the OP's, love that blue!

Well, this was a craigslist find and cost $300.

It was used for about 800 miles and needs nothing.

I'm pretty happy about it.

Perfect bike to go below the radar and get the job done. ;)
