Yes...2018 ones are essentially the same less graphics and perhaps the Centaur big ring might be a less expensive one. Both UT as well.

white industries VBC silver is a great shifting, handsome alternative if you dont dig the 4-arm aesthetic with the more classic running gear.

I would go potenza because the finish is better than centaur. Centaur looks rough in the pictures, specially black.

I have a NIB silver 50/34 Athena 11 PT including cups if that is of interest.

PMFJI, but I was also wondering if it's okay to run a 11 speed crankset with 10 speed everything else (Campagnolo). I found conflicting information about how well it would work.

Would I need to run an 11 speed chain?

Or can I simply install the new, compact 11 speed crankset and be done with it?

TIA

I've successfully run 11s crank w/ otherwise 10s drivetrain with no issues. Have also done the same but w/ 11s front mech. Again, no issues save a tad less trim space up front due to 10s chain vs 11s cage width.

You can run 11 crankset with 10 speed chain and 10 speed group w/o any problems (campagnolo tho, no idea if shimano will do weird s...t when you do things like that)

You can run 10 speed group with 10 speed chain (more silent)... you can run 11 speed group with 10 speed chain in case you have non moving around, of course i would not do it for a very long time ok? this is just in case you have nothing else moving around and you need to get the bike rolling till you get the 11 speed chain.

I know the Centuar is new and UT but is it the same hollow forged arms like the Potenza?
Campagnolo calls out the Potenza as a hollow crank but not the Centuar.

I’ve got Potenza on one of my bikes and it’s performed very well.

I installed some WI VBC on another bike last month and I reminded myself what smooth was. I don’t think any ext B.B. or PF will touch the buttery smoothness of ST.

Probably a good idea. PT works fine but it is a bit of a pain in the ass if you dont have a puller.

I'm not an engineer.....but just on paper.....I like the Power Torque Cranks with self extracting crank arm bolt better than Ultra.....as a design. But agree....don't like it enough better to cover the cost of a good puller on original versions.

Potenza 2017 u dont need a puller, they smarted out and put a self extracting bolt that works really well, i have one of those in my kid's bike. The only big tool you need with potenza PT is maybe a rubber mallet to tap the axle a little bit for insertion and extraction.

2018 potenza and centaur are UT. IMO is the way to go but PT potenza and centaur will worth nothing in the next few months tho. Which is a good way to put a bike together for pennies.

Works fine, '11s' crank and 10s everything else, particularly with Campag. Match the chain 'speed' to the cogset, not the chainring.

'PMFJI'..new one to me too.
