I think I may be able to land this for a great price. It would make a great sunday coffee shop piece.

I loved those Motta Personals. Lots of different cool paint schemes. I once met a cyclist riding one with an American flag theme.

My first ever road bike was a 70's or 80's Motta Personal. It was too big for me and plucked straight from the time period with race gearing, cork pads, DT shifter, the works. It killed my hamstrings but I still climbed GMR with my buddies on it. My hamstrings hurt for a while after too. Eventually sold it to an older gentleman after moving to the Bay area.

It rode nice from what I could remember but I was very green at the time. I didn't die on the descent and did enjoy riding it, couldn't tell you much aside from that.

I particularly like the ones with the "pinched" seatstays.

the Motta Personal 2001 is a typical example of the italian "microfusione" lugged era. (I call it the "Billato" era, as that OEM probably made 90% of them)

Con: There are quite a few of those out there which, if one is honest to oneself, don't really differ much from each other but for the paint, the name on the downtube and minor details.
Pro: They all ride pretty "modern" and are very useable, have a few nice details, typically very nice paintjobs.

The 2001 was a bit special in the way that they tried to do things a bit differently here and there. Their influence to the way the bike actually rides is debatable, but its a nice touch.

ps: i met the man Motta, rode a bit with him, and he's very friendly
ps2: so is his daughter!
ps3: My first real bike was my dads Motta (contemporary of 2001, simpler model)
ps4: That bike was 100% identical to a buddys "Colnago" from the same era.
