just curious how the trunk space is in the sporty bavarian 2-door with the seats folded down.

i currently have a earlier E60 5-series which comfortably swallows a frame + wheels (separated of course) + spare wheels + gear w/o folding down the seats.

clearly the 2-series is smaller...wondering if the trunk can accommodate at least a frame (sans wheels) with the seats folded down.

I had 2-series coupe and I could fit my mtb with front wheel removed. I could even have my road bike in trunk without folding backseat if I took off both wheels.

what size frame you ride? that affects fit!

i'm on the longer side, ride a nominally 61cm frame.

I know.

It’s more about saddle height which I have on 75cm. If more then it would not have fitted.

yep, my saddles are 6cm higher...so maybe i could "cant" the frame, lift the saddle up a bit to give it more length on the angle.

thx for the 4-1-1!

i have an e92 (3 series) coupe, and it swallows my size 50cm bike easily with the seats down, and i even keep a full sized spare tire in the back as well.

a lot depends on the shape of the cutout between the trunk and the rear seat area, but i bet you could make it fit without the front wheel on, just based on the relative size difference between the cars.

Watching The Fall on Netflix and wish they had this BMW stateside. Would make a perfect BMW crusier with more than enough space for cycling goods. BMW 118d

The new BMW X2 should fit the bill, more of a compact SUV than a sport hatchback. I kinda like it, I might wait a couple years for a clean used one.

Yeah, BMW has never sold in the 1-series in the US. I believe it has something to do with "hatchbacks" not selling well in the US. See failed 90s E36 3-ssries ti hatchback that they never really marketed.

Instead, BMW prefers to sell the more profitable X-series vehicles as they can load them up and sell for much more money than a 1 series.

I always wanted a BMW diesel like the 123d or 125d. Now, it doesn't matter as BMW has made the 1 series a front wheel drive car, so I'm not interested.
Of course, YMMV! Good Luck!

An old pal rode a 62cm. bike and it fit in the trunk of his 2002 with both wheels removed. That really surprised me. My 62cm Rambouillet fit in the trunk of my 1998 M3 and 2004 330i ZHP with the front wheel removed. If necessary I can lower/raise my seat to fit tight spaces. I always have Allen keys in the car and/or seat bag anyway.

Dang I miss my 330ci ZHP. Should never had sold that.
