I used to take Ambien and then I started getting all this stuff in the mail that I didn't remember ordering, usually from ebay... One time, it was an autographed photo of Eddy Merckx.

I spent that in one night in Austin years ago and that's all I have to say about that.

Hah, that was how I once ended up with one of the sweet, aluminum S-works frames. Built it up as a really sweet commuter/ crit bike.

That mini police officer costume I would probably buy drunk or sober. But then I'd have to get a cat.

I don't know about drunk shopping besides the drunk part. I once sat down at a bar at around 3:00 pm on a Friday afternoon in Chicago and woke up on a couch in Brooklyn NY the next afternoon around 1:00

I guess airfare is shopping.

Gentlemen, I cannot recommend the Interlude Lounge (http://interludelounge.com) highly enough. The cheap, high-octane cocktails, low-light ambience, and free Wi-Fi for your eBay app make for a most pleasant shopping experience. And, trust me, the surprise of a new bike on your doorstep will cure any hangover!

I've never drunk shopped like that. But I had a co-worker from a previous job tell me she had a dentist appointment and hoped she didn't end up buying another car again. I asked "again"? Turns out last year she was still high on the drugs that are used from the dentist for a procedure and somehow bought a brand new car. Didn't realize what happened until the drugs wore off and she is reminded of that mistake every year when the registration renewal came up (this was in Colorado so the renewals are based on a value percentage of the purchase price or MSRP....we are talking something like $700ish for that first year with that vehicle). I believe it was a fully loaded Jeep Cherokee and those are not cheap when buying new.

The best is when you get a package and you have no idea what’s in it.

I almost always know what it is, when it's bike stuff, but I got a mystery box last week and it took some hard thinking to remember it was my (quite sober) purchase from Powell's Books. This briefly eclipsed my excitement over bikes!

Guess I should order from them more often.

Listen though: the $448 per person that article quotes -- is that just the total dollars spent on drunk purchases, divided by the US population? Because if so -- if we're counting six-month-olds and my 93-year-old mom into the equation, and everybody inbetween -- then that figure is FAR more frightening.

Same here. Seriously trying to cut back on it though. Mostly I've been successful.

I need to do some drunk selling and just put stuff up for sale at a price so cheap it's guaranteed to move. Of the stuff I've sold in the past few years I miss none of it.

Minimalism is very satisfying.

Before Christmas, I bid and won a Taylor guitar with a crack on the side after three glass of vino. Next day, I thought I'd made a really bad decision. Buyer's remorse. I paid for it through PayPal, so I thought, if it is really trashed, I'll try to get a refund. Turns out, it wasn't that bad. I took it to a local luthier, who agreed that it was not a problem, and he did a simple repair and set-up for $80. End result, I bought a Taylor 314 CE for about 25% of retail. Sure, I know it has a crack, but it is not visible, and I don't plan to sell it. (The electronics in the guitar are exceptional.) However, I don't plan on going to ebay while drinking again. Maybe Paceline, but not ebay. Perhaps I'll end up with a 64cm Serotta Legend that I did not intend to buy! LOL

Altho' I've never done it, online shopping while drinking, then waking up with a large box on the stoop the next morning is better than waking up next to, um well, every single person here knows how that sentence ends.

That's my excuse and it works every time, nevermind I gave up drinking years ago but don't tell my significant other.

Sometimes drinking is how I justify spending that kind of money on those higher end parts. At least it sounds more logical after I throw a couple back. 🤣

A Trek CrossRip Elite hangs with my bikes....had less than 100 miles after an eBay spree after most of a bottle of bourbon. Worst part about it is the bike has seen pavement once by me....and I bought it because I wanted to do some gravel/touring but those adventures have yet to materialize. :(

I used BuyIt Now on a Lynskey Ebay Store frame last summer while sitting on the patio at Indeed Brewing’s tap room. So I guess I’m guilty.
Great frame and killer deal so no Regerts.

I think this phenomenon explains the Paceline classifieds.

My drunk internet usage (ok, after, at most, 3 beers lately) usually consists of getting in stupid arguments. I generally don't buy bike related stuff through ebay or online
