Would work just fine; except you would need a new front wheel as well.

But if cantis are the issue, why not try Mini-v brakes first? Then you don't need a new front wheel.

It's definitely possible, and nothing will explode. A lot of people find that the mismatched aesthetics of a rim brake in the rear and a disc brake in the front aren't to their liking, but the bike will still stop when asked.

You can avoid any lever mismatch issues by using a cable activated disc brake.

I don't have a disc brake bicycle, doubt I will ever need one, and don't know the first thing about discs, but this post in the
If You Could Only Have One Bike (https://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=218745) thread
caused me to wonder: in lieu of sending a frame in for an upgrade to disc capability, is it possible to run a disc front with a new disc fork, but leave the rear canti or rim, whatever is there? Or would that be a complete lever, etc. nightmare or impossibility?

This has been asked and gone many times. Search google for more info.

Option B for sure. In that case, I would also go with something like TRP Hy/Rd for the front.

+1.Keep it simple.

The tricky part about front disc is usually that most canti frames have 1" or 11/8" forks so theres not a whole lot of nice disc forks out there that is cheap and noone really wants to spend a lot of dough making their bike a disc front canti rear.

But if you have a beater with an allrdy pretty crappy fork i guess you can just find a cheap kona fork or similar to put on there with disc option
