View Full Version : Brake pad holder screws?

I picked up a set of far and near brakes secondhand and they're missing one of their screws that hold the pads in place.

I tried using one of the screws that came with my brake pads but it's too fat. Where can I find the smaller screw?

Just don't roll backwards while squeezing the brakes and you won't need any screws at all ;)

I would just leave em out of my holders on cx bikes because I would change between carbon and alloy pads so often. Worked out fine...for the most part. Definitely ejected my pads on the start line once but WHATEVER. ha.

Agreed. I wouldn't want the pads to come part out because the bike was rolled backwards with the brakes dragging.

Is it possible that this is a Shimano vs Campy thing, and your brakes use one or the other?

At worst, could you contact the manufacturer or find something at the hardware store?

I tried contacting both fairwheel bikes and Far and Near direct. No luck in the response department yet.

If you can figure out what size it is, try McMaster Carr for buying small fasteners for cheap. I'm guessing it's an M3 or 4-40. I have access to all of these fasteners at work but I can't help with something I can't see or hold.

Since you're only missing one that means the rest have the screw....just take one of the others to the local Ace, Fastenal, etc. and find the size/length that you need.
