View Full Version : Plugs for un-used Di2 holes?

Switching my bike over to etap from Di2, does anyone (shimano?) make blank plugs for the holes?

My holes are round and are using the standard shimano di2 e-tube wire grommets at the moment.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Pretty sure Problem Solvers sells plugs called Bub or something for that.

powder coaters and anodizers use these tapered plugs to plug holes, jam them in and cut off the extra.

God how I love McMaster...

Is it o.k. to admit I thumb through my old catalog with alarming regularity?

hmmm, those could work, designed for M5 (5mm) holes but the di2 holes are only 6mm...worth a try.

There is a product called Sugru (Amazon) that is a moldable glue.
You can shape it however you want.
Great for making your own plugs.

Eventually, when everything goes wireless ( and you know that day will come sooner rather than later) there's gonna be a heckuva lotta holes to plug!

Yes, these holy frames are going to be obsolete. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Don't do something irreversible to your frame. Who knows? The next owner might want to reinstall Di2. Just put the Shimano Di2 plugs in. The holes are so small that nothing's going to get inside and the fit is better than anything else that's available.

Check with your bike manufacturer. Many have custom plugs for the frames.

You can search around different manufacturer parts sections. Here are a few Orbea plugs:
https://www.orbea.com/us-en/gear/cable-guide-port-cover
https://www.orbea.com/us-en/gear/orca-plug-for-di2-fd-port
https://www.orbea.com/us-en/gear/orca-down-tube-left-cable-stop-plug
https://www.orbea.com/us-en/gear/tapon-plast-obturacion-5mm

You may be guessing a bit on the sizes though, unless you have access to a specific bike model to measure.

:)I know that eh?

For the OP..go to a decent hardware and get some wee rubber plugs.

I suggest the same thing. Local Ace Hardware may have something.

I found some for my Mosaic by searching "rubber grommets without holes". Lots of choices. I ended up with a few hundred for about $6. PM me your info and I'll mail you some when I get home mid-next week.
