View Full Version : Recommendations - Silver Alloy 31.8 Cruiser/MTB bars for flat bar road bike

I want to swap out the straight bar on my Cannondale flat bar road bike for something nicer with more back and up sweep. I keep it at my brother's in Colorado to use when I go out on rides with my nieces and nephew. We ride on the paved/dirt/gravel flat paths in and around the Denver suburbs so I am fairly upright and the straight bar is not doing it for me anymore.

I have a 31.8 stem on the way so now I need a bar recommendation:
- Silver (no black, bike is a light blue, stem/post are silver, headset silver, 9 speed ultegra silver, R443 shifters, all silver wheels)
- Alloy (do not want to worry about rust)
- 31.8 clamp (thomson silver X4 stem)
- Cruiser/MTB style for flat bar road bike

What do you like?

I like the Nitto Jitensha B2522 (https://www.benscycle.com/nitto-jitensha-b2522-touring-handlebar/cruisermulti-position_handlebar_nitto_b2522_870/product) bar. But that FSA looks nice.

I didn't know they made the jitensha in 31.8, I love those! But they work best with only levers, get a bit cramped with shifters. They are way more classic/attractive than the FSA bars, typical Nitto quality.

Agreed re: the Metropolis. I used those on my wife's steel Jamis.

Sweet bars for sure.

I didn't know they made the jitensha in 31.8, I love those! But they work best with only levers, get a bit cramped with shifters. They are way more classic/attractive than the FSA bars, typical Nitto quality.

good to know. i have both flat bar brake and shift levers.

The Ahearne + MAP bar gives you a little rise over the Jitensha, and tons of room for brakes and shifters, but it sweeps back a bit more. Oops, it may only be available in a 25.4 clamp though.
