What years did Serotta build the Colorado with Columbus SL tubing? THANKS..

The tubing was unique to the model for the most part. SL was a stock tube set much like SP, SLX, SPX etc.

I had one that the original owner claimed was made in 1988.

This is correct. The defining characteristic of a Colorado is the tapered down and seat tubes. Easy to tell from SL as the seat tube is 35 mm in the derailleur area, while SL is 28.6. If Columbus tubed and Colorado, it's a Colorado II. Earlier Colorados were True Temper.

My guess is that if a Serotta has tapered tubes and an SL tubing sticker, it's either been repainted or the factory was out of the correct sticker when the frame was painted and used whatever Columbus sticker was on hand.
