Built up a few wheels this weekend, 1 Dt Swiss XR 331 and another Sun CR18. The DT Swiss took less than half the time to get all the adjustments done, super straight and true out of the box! But also the Sun rim set me back only ~$30.

1. Rims and bike parts these days are just plain good, including a $30 rim
2. Straight rims make an easy build, and DT Swiss are probably the easiest rims I've ever built up.

Have you tried a carbon rim yet? Even easier since they are so stiff.

Not yet, thinking about it for the next build if I have the budget!

A big maybe...I've built some carbon rims where the sidewall is so variable they are hard to true..same with some disc rims..even tension type truing w/o a lot of regard for round or true-ness..With decent, well made mostly rim brake rims, even tension means they are very true and round..not so with some carbon and seems like, lots of disc rims.
