The worst part about having a full fendered rain bike is when you decide to leave it home because "nah, it's not going to rain" - haha, famous last words.

anyway, in the low 50's here today and that was good enough to sneak out for a few miles on the road.

no interesting pictures, it rained the whole time i was out. still, any ride in Febuary above freezing temp is a good one!

who else got out?

I got a ride in last Thursday (65km), but I cheated by being in Mexico. :)

Again, no pix. I didn't even have basic kit with me (didn't think I'd ride), so I rode a rented bike in street shoes and cargo shorts with a baseball cap instead of a cycle cap underneath the helmet. I'm sure I looked like a total dork, but it was great to be out on two wheels...

I got in 55 miles at just above freezing temps. I rode with a few friends and got rained on for the last hour. It was nice to get off the trainer for a change. I set a PR on a local mountain, that made all the trainer time worth it. My local forecast calls for lots of rain so it’s back to zwift tomorrow.

Here in Albuquerque, we are having super warm weather but brutal winds. I got 45 miles in but the wind killed the plans for a 65 mile ride.

the flu kept me from riding for almost the entire week. I went out yesterday for a short one to stretch the legs a bit in preparation for a longer ride today. Well, at the beginning, at least the first 15 miles , I can definitely feel the effects of a weakened body. No problem, I just took it slow and easy. And then, about 25 miles in after a quick stop to eat a fig bar and to adjust my new saddle, a forecasted cold front moved in several hours earlier than expected. In a span of 30 minutes, the temperature dropped from 56 to 42. No matter, at that point,
I felt my power coming back, so to keep the body temperature up, I decided to go full gas the last 15 or so miles home. It was a blast! :)

Saw a couple of under-dressed cyclists along the way, looked like they were caught off guard and their faces don't lie. They were miserable. I was so glad that I grabbed the windstopper jacket at the last minute on my way out.

At the 25-mile mark where I experienced the sharp temperature drop.

But nothing Turtlewax car wash , sponge and pail of water can't fix in 10-15 minutes.

All clean.

Call me a believer of the gravelking. It performed outstanding today on the wet roads filled with debris that stuck to the tires. No flats.

Picked up a new fat bike today and took it up to Bleecker Mountain for a shakedown ride. Rained the entire time as well, but it was 35° so I'll take it. With all the snow we got up here I decided it was time to get another dedicated fatbike to motivate me to get out and ride!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180210/80925d492930315796f8364928545a3f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180210/926ae5fc0456cc980fca528984983ac5.jpg

102 miles of actual analog riding today in Palm Springs. Major headwinds, but hey, isn't that what we train for all winter long?

18 pound weight loss in January and heavy serious spin program made it a lot easier as well!

At 66, I need all the advantage I can get.

I always take note of cool bikes that are my size and this is one is da bomb! Nice.

Home life, work and weather keep me on the rollers, glad some of you got out.

As soon as the weather breaks here I'll join in on the ride reports.

This is way cool. Strong work.

Got out for a 2 hour road ride with a team mate. It was between 30 and 33F during the ride. Lotta road salt and sand. We had a slight bit of rain/ice last night and the DOT went nuts on spreading the stuff.

NYC-F pal, I don't really have a preference. The only reason they are mismatched is because I am too lazy to sync up the front. This is my bad weather bike so in my mind, both tires fit the bill as far as a balance between flat protection/durability and decent ride quality.

I rode 26 miles after work on Friday in snow, plenty of icy spots on the road.

Looked forward to a longer ride on Saturday, with temps supposedly reaching mid-forties and rain holding off until 4:00.

Temps hovered around freezing, steady cold rain starting just after 1:00, still rode 45 miles.

Fenders and 45mm tires are where it's at...that and the Assos winter jacket I bought here on the Paceline from jghall and I made it home to tell the tale...

The great grey beast February (if you know the reference I'll send you a telepathic "like")...

Well, I cheat by living in southern/central CA. High sixties, low seventies, with onshore winds that carried some moisture -- felt like more humidity than we've had in a while. I drove north twenty minutes to get to some different roads, than did a 3.5 hour loop with rolling green hills, a long climb up and over and back up and over Tepusquet Canyon (featured in last year's Tour of California), then a long stretch on the flats past three or four wineries, then back over those rolling green hills. Pretty awesome. On the "back side", I saw maybe 8-10 cars in 2.5 hours. I was enjoying the riding so much I didn't take any pictures, though...

No donuts on my ride, that is a little weird, but funny. I'm usually a fair weather rider, but it was 70 today so I couldn't resist and went out and got an hour and a half ride in late afternoon. Mostly just wet roads so not too bad, not many cars either. Was my first time out in a while due to a bunch of things and it felt good.

I'm jealous.

Ostensibly I have been saying I'm trying to destroy parts this winter.

I've rode the trainer 14 days this year so far and have probably gone to the gym close to that many days too. I'm getting pretty darn desperate to go outside despite it actually being a pretty good winter in terms of workouts.

Problem is I bought studded tires that turned out to not work real well with my fenders. And it's been both really icy and really wet lately, despite being pretty warm half the time. See Ti Designs pictures, we have basically been in this bizarre cycle where we get some snow + rain, then some stupid cold weather and it all turns to a sheet of ice, then it gets warm and everything is a salty wet mess, then it freezes again, then the cycle repeats.

Soon!

Ah... this is killing me now.

I hit the trainer both days this weekend and was tired enough this morning that I wasn't even considering riding today.

But it's like 45 today and the roads are dry and mostly salt free. And it's sunny!

Better late then never, went on a 50 mile-ish ride. It was 45-50 and a little drizzly but it felt great even if it was slow. I didn't ride on those tracks, I just had to cross them on a little bridge and it looked nice so I took some pics. Most of the ride was paved bike path but I did find a little bit of dirt and mud.

Tomorrow should be doable.

It's not even 30 today.. that hasn't been the issue though, it's getting time out in the garage to do a couple nagging maintenance issues that are blocking winter riding and I probably need to throw a roof rack back on my car.

I'm solo parenting this week so probably have to go at lunch, which ends up requiring the roof rack.

Got my son this for Christmas and he hasn't even gotten to ride it yet, so theoretically we could go together in the morning, but that'd make us pretty late for school/work:

Not weekend, and not what I wanted, but it was a good start.

It's supposed to be about 50 today. I was hoping to sneak out on my lunch break but somebody decided to schedule a 3 hour meeting that went right through lunch and do it on 24 hour notice. First time that's ever happened at my current job.

So instead of 50 degrees I got gray and 29 degrees. I only went out for about 13 miles. Slow bike, slow legs. Got back in about 50 minutes.

Still really fun compared to the trainer. I spent about an hour on maintenance last night most adjusting the fit of this bike because I've been tweaking things on the trainer on my other bike. That was all too good effect. Only screw up is the battery is dead in my Stages PM and I didn't think to check it. No big deal, it was an easy ride.

Lots of ice still out there on the edges of the road. Nothing major though. Good times. Really really noticeable how variable everything is compared to inside stuff.

Picture is over the Concord river.. there is still ice at the edges.

Dentist visit Monday, paid him $140 to pull the tooth he'd charged me $280 to fill a couple of months ago. He did offer to let me take the tooth home with me as a memento.

Got above freezing on Tuesday but with the bleeding gums and it being the 13th, confined myself to drinking.

Around 40 degrees today so I rode the latest all surfaces build 11 miles to the PO to mail a part to a forum member. This was a $35 Nishiki eBay frame that I put together with stuff on hand, with the exception of the tires. Lots of traffic in the fog at 5 PM going too fast for conditions, even on the country roads. So all in all, good to get out in mid February for 20 miles and make it home.
