I got a box of stuff last year and inside was one Tacx bottle cage. Clear. Looks like below. Problem is, it has no lip at the bottom to hold the bottle from sliding down, and it doesn't look like anything has broken off. Am I missing something? Is this a two part cage?

I believe the holder tab on the Tacx Tao models were replaceable.

Well this would explain it.

Not replaceable, but they do have a habit of breaking.

If it's a break, it's SO clean..

Is this a two part cage?

Well, it is now!

(Sorry, couldn't help myself!)

It's way lighter when the bottle falls out the bottom.

For sale, superlite plastic cage. Ideal for tiny frames where the bottle butts up against the seat tube.

You know that all that weed does cause your analytic skill to decline precipitously. It makes a harder task of simple things like understanding bottle cages.

Blame Justin. He made me do it.

Mine are replaceable/two piece. I used mine on a Breakaway travel bike, not a great idea since the tab things wanted to get lost in the travel case.

I actually like the alloy Tacx Tao waterbottle cages - they look good, and are light and cheap. People are always saying that that tab at the bottom breaks, but I've only had one break in over 10 years. Maybe I am just easy on my equipment?

Tacx made bottles which were slightly conical which prevented them from sliding down. I used them in my 1st generation Tune Wasserträger bottle holders which also had no lip. The main problem with this system is that vibration caused the bottles to lock in the holders. Tacx made bottle carriers with no lip to go with these bottles and I'n sure that's what you have.

Summer 2009: the old rendition of my Merlin with the minimalistic Tune Wasserträger bottle carriers. I'm quite sure that Tacx made the conical bottles for Tune since the Tacx bottles also fitted in these holders.

Do you pop out the plastic bit from the aluminum holder? Where do you get a replacement tab?

These cages were (also) for the conical Tacx bottles...
