I bought a few pairs of these on sale on December:

https://www.duluthtrading.com/search/searchresults/61520.aspx?kw=wool%20socks&processor=content

They are ridiculously soft and comfortable, and great for cool days when my feet would be cold with regular thin cycling socks. Also, they fit my regular road shoes fine.

What's your best find?

Darn Tough's Coolmax socks are amazing for hot weather. Driest toes, ever, of any socks I've ever worn.

Fruit of the Loom cotton ribbed tank top undershirts. For all but the coldest, wettest conditions give me these instead of any dedicated purpose "baselayer".....

Nike Pro-Combat base layers are my go to. Work great and about 1/2 the price of a cycling brand baselayer.

I've had good luck this winter with some Target half-merino baselayers, both cycling and skiing. I also use some target golf cargo shorts as over-bib mtb baggies on occasion.

Will have to try the uniqlo.

32 Degree Heat base layers are super cheap at Costco and work really well.

I agree with this - they're warm and cheap. Just be aware they they're not form fitting and will flap around if work under short sleeve jersey.

Really... can’t have the baselayer keeping the sweet gold chains from being seen!

Had a pair of these given (https://www.envirosafetyproducts.com/memphis-glove-ninja-ice-goves.html) to me at work

Turns out they are awesome cycling gloves for temps from 30-50. Above that and they are too warm.

for commuting or as a over short/pant I think prana shorts or pants are ideal. The Zion and Brion shorts and pants have good fit and color options, multiple waste and inseam measurements and they work well on and off the bike. The Zions even have a integrated waste belt. The pants have snaps at the knees so you can roll up the lower leg as to not catch them on the drivetrain. kinda like a knicker length. A little pricey but I would recommend for all day everyday wear on and off the bike.

Secret is....buy one or two sizes small! Works great!

Yup, definitely buy smaller than you normally wear. They're so thin though, so they're easy to fit under other gear.

Great for skiing as well.

I've pressed a pair of Mechanix Wind Resistant gloves into cycling service on more than one occasion. They work really well, without being exceptionally bulky.
