View Full Version : Rechargeable rechargeable headlight?

Do you know of a company offering a bright headlight(800 min lum) for mixed terrain night riding that is rechargeable and plays well with a rechargeable battery pack. My L&M Taz 1500 and Urban 800 do not. Something to do with the firmware.

Not looking for hard-wired lights that are battery pack dedicated. Just trying to grab an extra hour or two from a rechargeable bright headlight.

TIA

I really like Exposure (http://exposurelights.com) lights for that purpose.

Why not just get a spare battery?.
I am not sure if your L&M has a swappable battery, but for example the Cygolite Explilion's have swappable batteries.

Run both lights on low. You should get about 6 hours if I recall...

Point the TAZ slightly higher than the 800.

That should be plenty of light.

Not replaceable.

The Cygolite Expilion series can work while being charged, although iirc running things "pass-through" tends to come at the expense of battery lifetime.

Alternatively, you can just buy a spare battery which is super quick/easy to replace, though kinda pricey @ $30. Might as well buy a 10,000mAh external battery for cheaper.

Cateye Volt 800, screw on screw off replaceable rechargeable battery. By far best light in the market in the 800 lumen range! Compare weight, size, battery life, clamp engineering, brightness, recharge time......etc!

800 lumen lights are so cheap and compact these days— just buy 2. When the first runs out, turn on the 2nd (or run them both on low as someone else suggested). Much faster and less fuss than carrying a spare battery/charge pack.

You could also carry one of those spare lipstick batteries/chargers that can charge anything via a USB port. I have carried that for a phone and garmin on a lengthy day out in the sticks with a long USB to lighting and a long USB to micro USB cord, kept the battery in my bar bag, frame bag, or just zip tied to the TT...

This is the problem. My L&M lights don't allow charging while on and the battery is not removable.

Clarification,
I am already carrying a handlebar and helmet light + computer(with external battery carried in TT bag). In a perfect world, cuz nothing on this ride will go perfect, I would like to be able to run the bar light, something equivalent to the TAZ1500, at brighter setting for a longer period of time and the computer off an external battery as mentioned by andrew. I don't need to run them simultaneously, but as needed. I would love to haul extra lights and proprietary batteries, but looking for less not more.

THanks.
