View Full Version : All the Mounts You'll Ever Need: Rec Mounts

The thread about searching for a minimalist light mount inspired me to post this thread. I've seen the mounts alluded to in like one post about four years ago.

These people, Rec Mounts (https://www.rec-mounts.com/), have every mount you'll ever need for essentially any computer, on any funky bar setup, combined with light/camera mounts. As far as it appears, the only computer I can think of they don't have a mount for is the Giant branded GPS units, which I didn't even know existed until two days ago.

I just ordered some mounts from them Sunday night, at about 8:59pm, and by 9:10pm I had shipping confirmation from them, and this morning (Monday) when I woke up the tracking information was updated and I had a text from DHL indicating that it'll be here tomorrow (Tuesday) from Japan. So, the move swiftly, it appears.

I grabbed a mount for Lezyne w/ gopro style mount underneath, which I'll use to mount a Lezyne headlight. This (https://image.jimcdn.com/app/cms/image/transf/dimension=191x1024:format=jpg/path/s89567d8b0190d487/image/i4fd1071eb1d0d434/version/1503567373/image.jpg)mount.

For a normal round bar for this computer. They make mounts for specific bars (venge, giant, trek aero etc thingies, as well as Deda 35.0 bars), for specific stems (Zipp, Enve, more), and styles that attach directly to the front of stems, headset spacer type, topcap type, out front mounts that attach on both sides of the bar, left side of bar, right side of bar.

Long story short, if you want a light, computer, camera etc mounted on a bike, even if you have a funky bar, they probably make one. And they apparently ship stuff darn fast.

Yes. I've posted this before and friends use and like them. I'm surprised how fast you got it. Most people are using EBay or Amazon and it takes about a month. Thanks for the heads up.

Any recommendation on how to negotiate their product range and/or website without learning a new language?

Yes! Two suggestions: first if you use a browser such as google chrome, it has a translate function built in. Secondly, the website has the same translate function built in, here (https://i.imgur.com/5cK3Usu.jpg). Third, on the majority of the site you can navigate by image (https://i.imgur.com/HGeY19n.jpg) and click on the thing you're looking for, eg Garmin, lezyne, Specialized Venge, etc.

Update: My mounts are already in Cincinnati less than twenty hours after ordering them from Japan. To be fair, Cincy is quite far from where I live, but considerably closer than where they started.

I did figure that much out ;). Yields about a 25-50% translation, but all the compatibility PDFs are in Japanese. I am pretty sure which one I want though, but got a bit lost adding a few adapters. Looking at the Cateye-left for cyclometer on top and 1/8 turn new Cycliq Fly12 (Garmin?) mount on the bottom.

Pretty nice stuff.

They arrived at the shop today...about 39hours after I ordered them from Japan. Insanely quick shipping!

Update: I've since gotten a few more mounts for various bikes.

They've continued to expand their offerings in various ways. Seem like there are more options than I recall.

I have a left hand version of the classic k edge style mount - it mounts on the left side of the stem rather than right. No inherent utility in that over "standard" but it's an amusing detail that's variable.

I just got in a new one for my tandem project. I'm using Ritchey comp ergo max bars - which are that riser style drop bar. The new mount has a tiny, narrow clamp on each side of the stem so it fits in tight spaces.

Again - blown away by the swiftness of processing/shipping - ordered Friday sometime and it arrived today (Monday) from Japan.

I bought one of their headlight to GoPro mount adaptors and the spacing on the gopro side was way off. Totally unusable. Good to hear other had better luck.

Do you have anything of their with the two-prong side of the GoPro mount? Mine was so tight, it broke a tab off of the mating mount. I tried everything I could get my hands on and everything worked with everything else except the recmount part.

I’ll add to this with my go to GoPro Mount. I have a bunch of bikes and wanted to easily switch my Fly 12 between bikes. I experimented with a variety of quick release mounts and they were all too bulky or unstable. I ended up getting a bunch of these simple mounts and they’ve worked well for a couple of years now. They only come in 31.8 so I had my son 3D print some shims for my older handlebars.
