Just thought I'd pass this tidbit from my cycling club along. I can't go but maybe someone else would be interested.

In case you are interested and can take a few days off from work in October.

A word to the wise: Don't miss this tour in October 2006. The beautiful
scenery and fun activities in our Texas Hill Country is what makes this tour
special.

Our goal is for riders to have 15 NEW FRIENDS and to enjoy the BEST tour
they have ever been on!

There is an absolute limit of 15 riders. So if you want to go, make sure you
register early!

HOW DO I REGISTER? Contact Kevin Winert at kwinert1@yahoo.com or 577-0264 to
obtain the registration form. The fee this year is $200

HOW STRENUOUS WILL IT BE? While the Tour is, by no means an ultra marathon,
you should be able to ride up to 80 miles a day. Also, prepare yourself to
ride some great hills. Also be prepared for temperature variations. Days
can be warm and evening very cool in late October. Bring clothing to cover
these extremes.

IS THERE A LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS? Yes, the ride is limited to
the first 15 registrants. This is the first ACA multi-day tour and we are
limiting the size to ensure a great time for everyone involved. We do
maintain a "stand-by" list, in case one of the first 15 drops out.

WHEN & WHERE DO WE START? The Tour begins Wednesday morning in Cedar Park.
Cedar Park is in the Northwest area ofAustin. Pre ride check in is from 7 to
8 am the morning of the ride; complete details will be provided after
registration.

WHERE DO WE EAT? Generally, we'll hit restaurants in towns along our route
for breakfast, lunch and dinner - so, foraging will be no problem. These
meals will be on your own and are not included in the fee for the ride. We
will provide a light breakfast on three of the mornings (cereal,
muffins/pastries, fruit) and light lunch (sandwiches and chips) will be
available on the rest day at Enchanted Rock for those that do not want to go
into Fredericksburg. There will also be interim rest/food stops along the
route.

WHAT ABOUT THE DAILY TOUR AGENDA? (The tour starts and ends in Cedar Park)
Day 1 - Cedar Park to Blanco (approximately 80 miles)
Day 2 - Blanco to Enchanted Rock (approximately 60 miles)
Day Three - Rest day - Transportation to Fredericksburg or enjoy an extra
day riding
Day 4 - Enchanted Rock to Inks Lake (approximately 70 miles)
Day 5 - Inks Lake to Cedar Park (approximately 75 miles)

WHEN Oct 18-22
COST $200 - Due by Sept 15 to secure a spot
INCLUDES 4 nights of camping fees, park entrance fees, truck support for
gear transport, cycling snacks at designated rest stops, 3 breakfasts and 1
lunch.
WHAT'S THE CANCELLATION POLICY? If you cancel between August 1st to
September 30th, $100 will be refunded, there will be NO REFUNDS after
September 30th. The date of notification of cancellation will be determined
by either our receipt of your phone call, e-mail, or by the postmark on your
letter indicating your desire to cancel.

See you in October!

Thanks,
Steve Coyle on behalf of Kevin Winert

There's a hill in Texas?

I ride on hills that have a 15%+ grade fairly regularly.

I used to ride Capital of Texas Highway, to the "hill" going up 2222, and then link into the road going up Mount Bonnell, and then back to campus. Now THAT was a hilly ride!

And that guy Lance is no slouch on the hills. I wonder where he used to train?
