I've been using a Lezyne "tube" light for a couple of years and I love the size and footprint, but I need a brighter light. I'd like something with a very small footprint on the bar and is one piece, not the light and separate battery. Suggestions?

I am not a fan of rubber band mounts, the adjustable strap on the Cateye series of lights is much more secure however just as versatile as the rubber strap of many other lights.

Second the Light & Motion Urban. The Cateye is nice too. As is Bontrager's Ion or whatever it's called.

Fenix BC21R. I particularly like it because I have a headlamp and flashlight from Fenix, so all use the same battery and charger. Great light, takes three seconds to get on or off.

Light & Motion Urban. Four years of 5am (dark) all-weather commuting on my rain bike, never had a problem, still holds a charge for almost a week. I think mine's a 700 and I generally use it on the lowest setting. L&M just sent me a new strap to replace the old one that was starting to crack.

Another vote for the Light and Motion. Have the Urban 800 and the Taz 2000. Nice sizes and great beam patterns. I also use their rear light.

It may have a little bigger footprint than you're looking for, but I think the Lezyne Macro Drive 1100XL is about the best combo of bright without being huge. I feel like I basically have a car headlight on the front of my bike when I use it.

Is that a certain k edge mount? I’d love for my urban and Garmin to all be on one mount and in line

Lupine Piko TL, 1500 lumens, super minimal mount, works great as an outdoor/camping flashlight (too bright to use indoors).

Use with the Lupine Rotlicht rear light.

Not cheap, but relatively compact, minimal, waterproof, bright, easy to charge.

Just another option...

It's their "combo" mount. Garmin + GoPro mount and then you just need the GoPro adapter for the light. I think mine actually came with one, otherwise you can get them from L&M

My Fenix BC21R uses an 18650 Li-ion battery. It comes with a 2300 mAhr battery and I see that 3400 mAhr versions are available in the same format. What battery type and mAhr capacity do the L&M Urban lights use? Are any of you using an 18650 battery with over 3000 mAhr capacity, and if so, what brand? I'd like to increase the run time on both my bike light and headlamp.
Thanks

Been thinking about trying these from U.S.E. in the UK: http://exposurelights.com/bike/front-lights/trace-daybright

Saw the protagonist on ColCollective talk about his and they look pretty sweet.

Can you give me a link to that adapter?you mean the one to make the Urban work with a GoPro mount? it's here: https://www.amazon.com/Light-Motion-GoPro-Mount-Lights/dp/B00YIPFELI/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1516969308&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=light+and+motion+go+pro

I believe that L&M are shipping the Urban with the mount included these days. although I could be wrong...

if you're looking for the k-edge mounts, they're pretty easy to find on Amazon as well. there's a bunch of different options, so I don't want to link you to all of them.

Saw the protagonist on ColCollective talk about his and they look pretty sweet.I don't have the daybright ones but I do have the Trace and TraceR and like them a lot (daybright is the same, they just tweaked the blinking pattern a bit). I use the TraceR in the rear whenever I ride, and I'll throw the Trace on the front if it's an overcast day. the Urban only comes out when I know I'll be out near/during actual darkness.

anyway, I like them a lot. the "throbbing" blink pattern is, I think, better than the slow pulsing pattern that L&M uses. more eye-catching. they're very well made and the battery times are excellent for bright blinkies.

Another recommendation for the L&M lights here. I've been running a TAZ 1200 for mountain biking for a few years now and love it. That ones been eclipsed by brighter lights now, up to the TAZ 2000 at 2000 lumens in the same format!

You didn't really specify what you will use it for or how much light you need, but that Urban 800 deal posted earlier is hard to beat! All the L&M lights also have amber side Led's to help with visibility in traffic.

I just got the Cycliq Fly12 CE and it is pretty slick and not too large. I will be mounting it on a Cycliq duo mount (made by BarFly) under my Garmin Edge.

I also have a set of Niterider Lumina OLED lights. I have the 750 lumina models, which were the highest output with self-contained batteries available when I got them. They now are selling 1100 lumen Lumina OLED lights.

I got two to use on my MTB for trail riding, I put one on my bars, and the other on a helmet mount. On my road bike, I had been using one if I go out with a plan to be back around or slightly after dusk. If I’m going on a night ride, I would put one on either side of my stem.

Now that I have the Fly12 CE, I don’t know if I’ll use the Niteriders on my Road Bike.

For my Fly12 CE, I bought a $8 Go Pro adapter that I can screw directly under the Garmin out front mount. The screws are the exact length to accommodate the adapter when replacing the original screws.

I am going to try this. The duo mount is too short to fit my Edge 1030. The Edge won’t fully twist on because it hits the faceplate of my Thomson X2 stem.

Also, even though the new cameras/lights are pretty slick, I was disappointed to learn that Cycliq’s Garmin IQ app, with which you are supposed to be able to operate the light from the Garmin, is not compatible with the Edge 1030 (or 1000) right now. Cycliq says that it’s working an upgrade. Nor can you view footage directly on your Phone at this time, though Cycliq says its working on that too.

There is a link on this page to CyclingPlus for Garmin Vers. 1.1.
https://cycliq.com/blogs/connectivity-on-the-fly-ce-connected-edition/
I was unable to download it. The blog entry says:

Our new Fly6 CE and Fly12 CE cameras will now be able to connect with your Garmin computer. Change the light mode and brightness of both your Fly6 CE and Fly12 CE from your Garmin computer. Currently the Edge 820 is supported, but will soon be compatible (sic) with Edge 520, Edge Explore 820, Edge 1000, Edge Explore 1000 and Edge 1030.

But this Cycliq App Page says that the Garmin Connect IQ app will be coming soon. https://cycliq.com/app/
