You said it! I may be Canadian, but I'm in southern Ontario where we're not accustomed to the relentlessly Arctic deep freeze this side of the continent has been trapped under since Christmas.

But today, she has broke. It's sunny, warm and above freezing. Wuhoo!

Hello, bike. How ya been? Feel like...going for a ride?

Add me to the list too everyone, first ride in over a week today for me. I did 25 miles, and might go back out after an early dinner and knock out another 25, too. :)

I rode a couple of days ago 40F a few hours before the snow started. Supposed to be nice the weekend; I'm hoping enough of the slush and salt clear off the road.

As an aside BTW, here in the "upper south" they go bats**t crazy with salt now anytime there's a threat of any kind of snow/sleet etc. Most of the time the precipitation doesn't match the volume of salt put out and you have to wait for a good rain to wash it all away.

Post ride report.....windy af but man was that nice.

Had a friend join in who I haven’t ridden with in ages. I was excited to see him as we were always pretty even despite the one foot height difference between us.

Turns out he has undergone a radical transformation in diet (nearly vegan) and lost forty pounds!

Had my arse handed to me until nearly the end of our ride when I guess my fat reserves kicked in. What fun.

It’s got me rethinking my eating/ cooking habits....but that is for another thread.

Here in NW Vermont, a darn good skiing month, but otherwise just a little Pugsley here and there.

<sigh> and here I sit, recovering from bronchitis. Not going to risk it for one nice day. But I want to!

November was one of my ridingist months of the year with December not far behind. Now that the arctic air is back in the arctic where it belongs...still at it. Digging my cold weather riding. Lo-mid 20s and snowless roads and I’m out. Today was so balmy that I rode a healthy ( for me) 40 miles at a really crisp ( for me) pace.

Excuse please if the foregoing came off like a brag; it’s the first winter I’ve done this and I’m enthusiastic. Beats the living s%#t out of a trainer.

Beats the living s%#t out of a trainer.

Yep. I'll admit I'm curious about the rocking trainers that the DIY folk are coming up with, like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oobSKEaxRS4&ab_channel=FernandoGazzola

But even so...nope. Being outside is pure joy. It's a mental health day in an hour (or two). When it gets really cold and snowy I'm on my mountain bike, and if gets stupid cold I'm at the Y playing basketball.

My trainer's collecting dust in the basement.

I've ridden 422 outdoor miles so far in January. Today was the warmest at 62 degrees. Shorts and a long sleeve jersey. My goal is to have 1000 by the end of February.

Glad to hear my pals finally caught a break and got to ride outside.

If you folks further north get to ride outside, can you imagine what the weather was like yesterday for those who live down south?

I better not say.

I've been in between the flu and cold for the last week, feeling really guilty letting this sunny day go by while I lay on the couch.

I got out today and yesterday. Had to go MTB on the road yesterday due to some random slushy areas.

Road bike today for a couple of hours. It hit 50F here. It's foggy, misty and wet. Had to dodge foggy areas but it was a great ride. Actually rode with 2 teammates. It was awesome.

Great weather - was in NYC for the weekend - I was so surprised by the number of cyclists riding on major roads- yikes, seems like a tough place to ride.

I got out for a quick 20k during nap time. After serious cold weather the plus 5 Celsius felt really balmy and nice.

Funniest thing was having year's fastest strava segment. I'm never fast and rated in the 50th percentile on the segment.

Looks like bike is back away until March. Luckily I start a track fitness class next week.

Raining and about 48 when I finally got out on Sunday. Christened the latest build with road salt, gravel and mud. Spent more time cleaning the bike after the ride than I did riding.

Yeah my bike was filthy after yesterdays ride. Normally I wouodnt care but aince was the first day I rode it, I cleanes it all up. Unlike cars, white bikes are the worst when it comes to getting dirty.

First time back on a bike today in any form or fashion for a solid month. That is a recent record for me. Since proclaiming I’m riding outside today in the original post, I have been traveling, followed by more travel, then I got the flu. I am still congested, but going back out today for an easy spin to see if I still can ride a bike.

Let’s hope what they say is true.
