After a four man break (that was out most of the day) was caught in the final 20kms, the Lion King has roared on American soil! Gord Fraser (Health Net) took second and Ivan Dominguez (Colavita Olive Oil) in third.

What a cool thing to have that kind of excitement going on in the states. This is a tough race, and I think it will get bigger each year. They were saying whole towns were out to watch the boys race by; school kids got the afternoon off. Good stuff.

I agree wth you bcm119. It will be interesting to see if the local boys can really hang and compete with the experienced Euro teams. So far, it looks like they are doing okay and it sounds like Health Net was driving the peleton most of the day with some help along the way.

It would be great if this continued to grow and more of the teams made the trip across the pond to compete.
