I will, doubly! The kid called this AM from March AFB after a very long flight from Kuwait to Amsterdam to California. He said the night air smells so good.

how long will he be at March? I'm teaching a driving school next weekend at California Speedway and could give/get him some rides around the track.

Thanks for the offer! March was only a landing place for the 2 jumbos full of his unit. From March they convoyed to 29 Palms where he is based.

Dave, how easy is the adjustment when they return stateside? Talk about a change of environment, after being in Iraq and being in a very nasty war, to come back to the US, where life is just puttering along. Must feel very strange and require some sort of change of mental gears...

Flys halfway around the world in a crowded airplane for day and a half, gets stateside at 2AM, then promptly calls home!

For some, easy. For others not. They have about a weeks worth of coming-back-to-the-world classes and lectures before they leave Kuwait to prepare them for their return. They have to re-learn many things; driving manners, appropriate language, how to relax, how to sleep soundly. In the Marines they trust their lives to their buddys, not so in the civilian world.

I anxious to see how this tour has affected him, he lost some close friends.

Dave,

I'm so glad to hear he's home, and safe. It breaks my heart to hear about his friends. Please give him my thanks for his service, and my condolences for his losses.

Too bad he couldn't have stayed in Amsterdam for a few days..... ;) Glad he's home though. Sleep easy, Dave.
