Looking for opinions. I would like to add an Olmo and Somec to the collection are there any specific models I should be looking for?

Clearly looking for Italian steel

TIA

Olmo relatively recently did a retro frameset, San Remo I believe that was SLX. Didn't seem to catch fire and it was discontinued pretty quick. Depending on what size you need there's a few still kicking around. I've loved Olmos since I was a kid, a racing green Olmo hanging in the window of Kissena Cycles on Horace Harding Expwy back in the early 80's was my first love affair with bicycles.

There’s a good thread on Olmo over on the classic & vintage forum here: https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage/1000514-show-me-your-olmo.html. My Olmo is the Competition shown in the video (I’m JoeBass over there).

A steal, especially with the Record headset. If it was a 55, hell I'd grab it.

Thanks, I kind of like the frame but don't know much about the brand other than its considered a good Italian House. Generally the bigger shops have both good and not so good bikes so that is why I sought some info.

Know anything about Somec?

Brick Lane Bikes in London specializes in vintage Italian frames...Rossin, Somec, Olmo, Sancineto etc...some are well used but they also have a lot of NOS.

I would suggest you check their website and also call or send an email describing what you like or desire. They have a huge warehouse off-site and not everything is listed. Plus they make annual trips to pick up new stuff so inventory changes.

I got this rare OLMO frame set from them...columbus EGO (aero tubeset and MAX chainstays)

There are plenty of very nice Olmo framesets and complete bikes out there; if it's made with good tubing, fits you, and you like the color, you'll be fine. Friend of mine rode his at Eroica CA the past two years, was happy even on narrow tires. Keep an eye out on eBay, contact Steel Vintage Bikes in Berlin, Cicli Corsa Classico in Bergamo, and Wayne Bingham at Velo Classique in VA and they will find you what you want. Wayne is also a dealer for new lugged Somec frames and bikes, and they are gorgeous.

Somec have made so many nice modern steel bikes, I might go for one of those instead. IIRC, they will also pantograph new parts to match your bike. That would be pretty special.

If you want an Olmo carbon frame, PM me :) It's an Oria frame, so made in Italy.

I have this Olmo Leader in La Vie Clarie colours. In the 80s this was their top of the line frame. It uses the rare Columbus MS shaped tubing. It rides very smoothly and is quite comfortable. No problem with 25mm rubber. It gets appreciate comments all this time

52/53?

I think you got it. My stature requires small frames, nice to see level top tubes like that.

And I'm sold on tubular or maybe it's the new frame tubes (I was on SLX before)? I changed the bars and went for a test ride around the block but ended up riding across the city and got my new wheels retrued. I was wearing pants and a denim jacket...

That's a nice one. If you don't mind, where did you source it and how much do they run?
