I just rented HBO's "Rome", the first two episodes. I love history. If you could have lived in any era, or place when and where would it have been? Ancient Eqypt, Athens, Sparta, Rome, Ottoman Istanbul, Safavid Isfahan, Mugal India, Song Dynasty China, Mali, Timbuktu, NYC at the turn of the century, The U.S. in the 50's with all the cool house-hold appliances? Hang with the Mayas or Aztecs? Vikings? Medieval France? Smelly Paris???
I may have chosen Rome, I love all the debauchery...imho...Plus I like the classical architecture and sculpture. They invented concrete also, and vaulting... They had good plumbing too. And the wine was great....plus eating grapes on a couch being fed by German slaves. What could be better?
