Hey Folks...any Ritchey experts here? I'm looking to find out more about this frame in terms of the year and if this frame is anything special.

I do know it has 8 speed Shimano 600 Tricolor and 1" head tube.

That frame looks remarkably similar to my Ritchey Road Logic, which I purchased in early 1996 and whose BB is marked with serial number 570. I'm pretty sure that my frame was actually a 1996 model year (and not a left over from a previous year), because the Ritchey factory customized it for me by adding a pump peg and chain hanger. These were never a high volume bike, so based on the serial number I'd guess that yours must also be a 1996, or 1997 at the latest.

The Shimano stuff says 96 ish. That thing is amazingly clean and unharmed.

Looks like the same paint and decal style as in the summer 1995 Excel catalog. Mine is number 532, cobalt blue, and has a different tubing sticker. I always thought mine was a '96. You might check the date code on the crank. T is 1995, U is 1996, etc.

That's gorgeous!

I had a cobalt blue one as well. Great riding bikes. I sold mine to make room for a steel Pegoretti otherwise I might still have it.

If you want a "special" Ritchey Road Logic frameset, you have to find a fillet brazed frameset. Supposedly, Tom Ritchey brazed all of them himself.

Dave Hallerman has a nice 56cm for sale:

Too bad it is only available as a complete bike. Nevertheless, if you ride a 56cm and like his eclectic choice of parts, I believe it is still for sale. Good Luck!

After searching through some more catalogs, it appears that blue wasn't available until early in 1997. The first catalog showing blue as an option also shows this tubing sticker. Guessing your frame is 1996.

Our bike shop only offered the cobalt blue option in 1997 and 98. Mine is a 98 that is badly in need of a respray. I think your red one must be a 1996 or 1995.

Excel still offered red in 1997. Don't know if they were from old stock or current production. Anyone have a red one with the later tubing sticker?

I think you might be spot on. when I ordered the Logic in 97, it was late in the year and the only option listed was the blue. I would have chosen the blue anyways though!

Actually, my 1996 Road Logic is Cobalt Blue. But as I mentioned, I asked for some custom braze-ons, so they added them to a new, unpainted frame (the frames were built in Japan, but painted in the US), and then painted it with the color for what I was told was for the next batch of production frames. So it is possible that my '96 frame had a '97 color.

Another point of difference is that either in '97 or '98 they switched from flat Logic rear dropouts (as on the OP's frame) and went to hooded Breezer dropouts (as on your '98 frame).

My Road Logic also has this tubing decal. The frame is black. It is serial number 596.

Ugh, someone should just buy that bike already. It's been coming down steadily in price the last several months and I question whether it can go much lower.

I just acquired it and it's in route to me now. I have been watching since it was listed around $1100 (I believe). It took forever to get down to $750.
