It should be said that at the very same time the bicycle was being touted as a healthful conveyance and means of recreation (for boys and men), it was being said that it would drive women insane and be the cause of their going to hell and a myriad of health problems in pulpits all over. Thank goodness they didn't listen.

You never know what you’ll find in old newspapers. I was researching macadam roads in Nebr circa 1885.

Is that macadam? It looks like mud to me. Though this would have been 60 years previous to the cycling exploits of the story.
