bettini is one of the best pro racers of the last 10 years.
actually, palmares-wise, he's the most complete rider
i can think of atmo (in the last 10 years).

Good to see that both the men's and the women's RR were won by riders who had attacked off the front on the last few laps, trying to make it a race rather than a very long procession towards a bunch sprint. Also good to see David Millar doing so well on bread and water. You know, he may yet make himself into a bike racer. And boy do we Brits need one - Hammond and Downing were nowhere and Bradley Wiggins was writing in yesterday's paper about how the track in Beijing is what he's concentrating on, more even that the TdF Prologue in London next year.

For years I was hooked on phonics and consistently confused "heirloom" with "hair loom."

Apparently he's got a hell of an hair loom, then. Could've fooled me...

P.S. Zabel always comes across as a dude who really, really, finds joy in cycling. I'd have been as happy for him as I am for Bettini.
