I put a Yakima rack on the LPV (low performance vehicle) this afternoon. All is well and I used it to drive out to my ride. Then, on the way home, I thought, hmmmm I wonder if it’s possible to get these things off my car without key? So, I open up the cam cover, undo the fastener clip to the lock, and things start coming apart. Wow that was easy. Now, is there really no locking this thing or did I screw up the assembly?

Thanks and regards,
Keith

If you could open the cam cover the locks were NOT locked ! On a correctly installed Q system when the cam cover is closed the face of the lock core is flush with the cam surface, if it isn't its a sign that the either the tower spacing is off or the tension adjustment (silver bolt under the cam) is bottoming out.

Hope this helps. Jim

You probably just forgot to make sure the little tab on the lock core flipped up to prevent the cam from opening. The instructions can explain it better than I, but basically the cam is supposed to be blocked from opening by the lock tab.
