heard him live in 1960-61 in Chicago in a non-alcohol bar the name of which escapes me. I want to say "Birdland" but that can't be right can it?
Later that year I went to hear Ramsey Lewis, Gerry Mulligan, Stan Getz at the London House and otehr "real" clubs after getting my fake id.

I wasn't conceived until june '67 (Expo 67 - Montreal World's Fair) so it didn't give
me much time to catch a show, he died in July... :(

If you listen to any saxophone player, most have drawn significant influence from John Coltrane.
He was a true master, an innovator whose genius lives on.
Lets keep Michael Brecker in our prayers as well.
