Pedaling I've done 100km/hr on a descent in Sardinia. I've never thought to see if ACME had some kind of rocket pack for my bike. It never seemed to work out for Wile E Coyote.

55 mph some years ago screaming down into Lamoille Canyon outside of Elko, NV. Don't believe I'll be doing that again anytime soon.....:p

Got to the mid 40's on a descent near where I used to live years ago. Not blazing fast but I kept thinking: "If my front tire blows out"....

55 mph last summer. Right outside of North Bend Wa. Terrifying but bike was steady. Thanks Dario!

My wife rode a tandem with me for about 4 years or so back in the mid 2000's. I distinctly remember seeing 56 MPH on a descent once during a charity ride together.

I didn't tell her.....

A few years ago, MrsTR told me we hit 63 going down a long hill in a TT on a tandem with aero bars, I was too busy up front to look. It was as fast as we could go with a 60x11.

much more impressive from the skill involved and sheer power, but no where near as impressive in the "look at the balls on that guy" reality of strapping a rocket onto a bicycle and hanging on.....imo.

Sprint, flat road but wind assisted, 42mph.

Downhill, 57mph going down Harp Hill in Maryland. I was convinced I would break that when my wife and I where on the Blue Ridge Parkway coming down from Pisgah. Passing an RV and the drop off on the right was too much for my wife so she sat up. It was a cold morning so we had on flappy clothing. Only reached 55mph.

Looking back, those were crazy dayz. Didn't wear a helmet when I hit 57......

Engineering ingenuity vs. an attempt to win the darwin award ;)

BTW, my personal high was a bit over 100km/h down the Kühtai/Tirol/Austria, best spot in the Alps i've ssen for nonsense like this (talk about Darwin award). Was a hoot, though.

About 20 years ago while riding from Boston to Brattleboro, I hit 57mph on my old Yo Eddy (with Avocet road tires). I was pushing for 60 but the bike was feeling so unstable and I was on an unfamiliar road so I backed off. Have since gotten in to the low 40's on my road bikes but have not seen 50+ since

Fastest this year was probably 55.2 mph on my commute. I regularly hit 40+.

These are on downhill sections.
