And led by my son, or one of the leaders if there's more than one. Apparently they do some crazy fun (and hard) rides. Thankfully I'm too far away to jump in; their speeds are way too fast for this pilgrim.

NOT a typical Rapha ride but a leisurely social ride, specifically not a race altho some will be driven by ego, unfortunately.

I did a Rapha ride that was advertised as a leisurely, fun ride.

I rolled in dead last, averaging over 17 mph for 65 miles and 5000’ climbing.

I knew I was in for a long day when we hit a dirt road in the early part of the ride and the pace went up a few mph.

THIS is what kills these type of rides. If the route leaders would just let them go, the rest of the cyclists could actually enjoy a social ride...

I’m gonna have to check my Strava to see how much I exaggerated

Edit: Okay, 2300’, 64 miles, 17.7 average, and I was dead last.

Ok, I don't feel as bad. I average 16-17 mph unless a lot of climbing, and was feeling outclassed by some fellas when I was in NYC, they were doing the Hudson to Nyack ride at 22-23 mph!
