For those who own one, how is it? I am still using an old Edge 305 and thinking of upgrading. Probably wait for a deal or get a used one. Just trying to learn more and read on forumites' experience on the unit.

A buddy I ride with is on his third after two prior warranty replacements with Garmin. He's not a fan.

Oh. Good to know. Maybe I will wait for a deal on the 520 then.

I'm on my second via warranty and have resorted to using it as a watch only.......

Well, even if I want one now, getting a used one is definitely not a good idea.

Out if curiosity, what issues did you fellows had with the Fenix 3? I used the 3HR, no issues.

My buddy's first bricked on a software update.

The second just stopped receiving GPS signals.

I've had mine for 18 or so months and love it. No issues at all. Tracks everything I need (swimming, running, cycling, hiking). Rugged. I give it a strong endorsement.

Mine started going wonky after SW update and would only hold charge (with no functions running) for about 3hrs max. Back n forth with Garmin, ran through few diagnostics, then new SW update, and then it wouldn't hold charge at all so they said it was THEIR issue.......but still made me pay $100 for new refurb.

I had one for almost 2 years.. no real issues with it other than watching the software develop over time.

I sold it here on the forum, partly cause it was just so huge for wearing as a watch. I was having some wrist issues and wanted to take that out of the equation.

My plan was to replace it with a Fenix 5S. I really miss some of it's features in day to day use, but I got used to not wearing a watch at all. My wrist is better, if I get myself to wear my regular watch consistently again I'll probably pick up a newer garmin.

I used it a lot mounted on my handlebar. It's only real issue there other than lack of mapping is the display is small compared to edge devices. Otherwise it does almost everything they do.

I have had one for a couple of years and it is really nice and I have no issues with it at all. The battery usage is really good ~15days and i usually work out at least 1 hour a day using the watch. As others have said it is quite big but I have big wrists so no issues for me.

This has been my experience as well, I'm 21 months in with every day use. Love this watch and no issues at all.

I have a 5s (42mm for the non enormous feel) and it is by far the best multi sport watch I've come across, and I've tried a few.

I've had mine for about 6 months and am very happy with it--no problems. I use it on the bike and for running and hiking. I like the fact that you can customize it. It is big, though.

Had my F3HR since last Christmas. I wear it as my daily watch for activity tracking, sleep tracking My main driver for getting it was not cycling, but xc skiing because I wanted to track HR, distance, etc and got tired of figuring out how carry and view my 800.

I still use my 800 for cycling -- and wear the F3 too. I would say 1/4 of the time I actually track a ride using the F3. One benefit over the 800 is that is syncs wirelessly to Garmin Connect. I like a number of the apps on it. It is a large face.

I've had a Fenix2 for over three years now and have had no issues with daily use.
